Congestion charges in Dublin may be preferable to traffic restrictions

  1. In shock decision, Irish politician elects to charge the public through the nose for something, rather than make an actual decision instead

  2. Making a quick buck off the publics back may be preferable to sustainable long term policy making to improve public transport networks (for decades); if you ever wanted to sum up policy making in this country.

  3. Dublin desperately needs congestion charges. Surely there’s a system that could be linked into eFlow which everyone who regularly drives in Dublin has anyway?

  4. If they’re gonna do this, it’s basically saying ‘only rich people can drive through town’.

If there’s gonna be a charge, make it as a percentage of that cars worth, everyone pays their share. Johnny Hedgefund and his 212 Beamer shouldn’t be paying the same as Darren the plumber in his 03 Toyota hiace.

  5. Congestion charge with the funds ringfenced for public transport would be great. Buses would be far more efficient without traffic, seemed to work in London anyway.

  6. A step in the right direction to their outright banning. And I love how everyone here is trying to make out that attacking drivers is anti-poor. This sub really is delusional.
