German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: “There are no longer any range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine, not from the British, not from the French, not from us, not from the Americans either. This means that Ukraine can now also defend itself by attacking military positions in Russia[…]”

About time too
Better late than never
My question is… “Will there be a sufficient supply of long range weapons to do a substantial enough job for Ukraine to get on the good foot and start to regain its territory?”
That’s not even enough. When he talks about “military targets”, he probably excludes energy targets from the equation, which are an important part of the war effort in Russia. The day Ukraine is able to strike all russian refineries and power stations with western missiles is the day this war is fair. But no one except ukrainians want this war to be fair, even now. They all fear nuclear retaliation if the war becomes fair. Trump is the most coward of all. Russia can use Shahed missiles imported from Iran to destroy energy targets in Ukraine, and Russia can import troops from North Korea to be used on its own territory, two things Ukraine still can’t do.
I don’t know how the situation will evolve but if Ukraine fails we will have a responsibility. Ukrainians fought and did the job, and continue to do it, much more than everyone expected at the beginning. They deserve EU, they deserve NATO, and they deserve a fair defense.
Things are about to get spicy!
Good. Let the Russians feel the terror that innocent Ukrainian families feel every day wih missiles, drones raining down on them.
Should’ve been that way from the beginning. They’re at war ffs. Russia always got to do whatever they freaking wanted, with the defended having their hands tied behind their backs. Bomb the crap out of those criminal terrorists. Slava Ukraine
Good. But I really hope our response is not this slow the day Russia invades one of the Baltic countries.
Wurde auch Zeit.
Russia has N Korean troops actively fighting and China full on with drone supplies but Europe and the US still fear escalation. When the Escalation is on the “West’s” term then Russia will realise. Let’s hope this ambiguity in supply and notice of intent for derestriction is a step forward towards a strong resolve of the Russia problem. It is indeed a Russian problem of their own creation.
Good…..
God i love mr. Merz already. He has more balls than schultz
I’m looking forward to fireworks 🎆 🙂
Asking for a friend is the Kremlin a good place to start? Anyone got the coordinates?
This new chancellor seems to be a bit more determined of having a strong Europe against the Russian threat. Add the information curfew on weapons deliveries and we hopefully soon see taurus hitting the crap out of Russians.
It’s about time.
Knock out every railroad bridge in Russia. All their transport relies on trains.
I don’t like Merz, but his standpoint on Ukraine was clear and hasn’t changed from day one;
If Ukraine falls, Europe will follow.
And I believe him when he said he’ll do everything jn his power to prevent that from happening, even I don’t believe him in most other things
And it only took 3 years…
all well and good , but they dont have missiles , scalp and storm shadow have mostly all been used , same with atacams , unless merz is going to supply taurus or europe can buy some atacams , they dont have enough to make much of an impact
but still no taurus anyway
Bring on the burning bombers and airfields.
Classical Merz, Storm Shadow/Scalp are mostly spent, doubtful Ukraine will receive more ATACMS from Donald, and Germany has not delivered Taurus (I doubt we ever will). By the way, German military assistance has now been classified. You can read into that whatever you want, but knowing Merz and knowing Germany, my bet is they did it so there won’t be any evidence that Ukraine does not actually receive Taurus.
Still crossing my fingers that I’m wrong, though.
All well and good but as others have stated I think its more a supply issue than anything else.
NATO never expected a long war would happen again and thus has not prepared for it. Ammo is running short now and no country wants to give everything away in case they have to defend themselves.
Fingers crossed there is some surplus of long range weapons warehoused somewhere that can go to Ukraine.
Three years too fucking late
