  1. Thankfully the video shows it was a “slower collison” and not ones like we have seen in Germany. I read he had been taken into custody after stopping very quickly

  2. >”We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.

    >”We were contacted at just after 18:00 today, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.

    >”The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.

    >”Emergency services are currently on the scene.”

  3. We need to let the Police do their thing here but also 1) be truthful 2) directly combat the rise of miss-information that’s already going off the chain on Social Media.

Unless this is proven quickly to be a failure of Policing and something genuinely like a confused driver or a medical emergency (person having a heat attack or some such), then this is going to be a gift to the far right at this time and in this atmosphere.

  4. Number 1, the footage clearly shows it was intentional and not an accidental old person in an automatic flooring it type situation.

Number 2, how the fuck is a car even allowed to get into that area or situation with masses of pedestrians around. Absolute failure on the policing side of things for that

  5. There is a close up video from just before the incident showing the driver (who through the window appears white) having an argument with football fans, it seems to escalate and they smash his back window in before he speeds into the crowd.

I really hope the police get the narrative out as quickly as possible to avoid misinformation spreading.

  6. BBC reporting it’s a 57 year old white male that has been arrested…

  7. “A 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area has been arrested, Merseyside Police says.”

  8. Didn’t have any data until I eventually got out of town and got a flurry of texts from mates and my mum and dad wanting to know I was okay, and then I started crying. We literally can’t have anything good, can we.

  9. Police update was somewhat straightforward, other than to say that this appears isolated and not terrorism
