The Republic of Moldova and the State of Israel aim to raise bilateral relations to a new level by initiating a strategic partnership of mutually beneficial cooperation. The statements were made during a working visit to Jerusalem between Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi and his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa’ar, IPN reports.
Discussions between the dignitaries focused on strengthening cooperation in the political, economic, legal and humanitarian spheres, as well as expanding multilateral cooperation. An important focus was put on the relaunching of the work of the Moldovan-Israeli Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, a structure to support joint initiatives and investments in strategic sectors such as technology, agriculture, health and education.
It was also agreed to extend the bilateral legal framework by signing an Agreement on legal cooperation in civil and commercial matters. The document aims to facilitate relations between the courts of the two countries and to provide a clear framework for resolving civil and commercial matters.
The agenda of the talks also included regional security, the situation of Moldovan citizens in Israel and Moldova’s progress in the European integration process. The officials emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of Moldovan citizens in the Diaspora and expressed their common interest in maintaining a constant dialogue on topics of mutual interest.
