Is it the same as the co-owner of the Evening Standard, Viscount Rothermere’s?
He’s the size of a Team America puppet so what happened to her in the womb!?
It would honestly have surprised me if she *wasn’t* avoiding tax
Anyone checked to see if Baron Ashcroft is still non Dom too?
The cheif tax collectors wife is a tax cheat..
Only in the UK would some people think this is OK.
They’re punching us into oblivion by taxing and making us poorer and poorer while they laugh in their obscene wealth doing everything they can do to siphon more wealth for themselves.
There is no poor rich divide, it’s Poor, Rich and then a massive gap between super rich
Stopped reading at:
“The Independent reported Akshata Murthy, who is believed to be worth hundreds of BILLIONS of pounds, held non-dom status.”
Do people not proof read anything anymore?
Isn’t it because she’s an Indian citizen and is paying tax in India on her Indian investments and keeping that money in India. Any UK earnings, plus money brought into the UK, is taxed as normal by HMRC.
The Finance Bill in 2017 tightened up on the Non Dom legislation, including residency requirements, which was quite a shake-up to the system but it’s still in place.
Rishi Sunak’s wife is not an MP and Sunak certainly does not have to explain her perfectly legal business arrangements.
I’m surprised the wife of the Chancellor has her main residence in India. That must be terribly inconvenient.
