For countless Brits, the airport pint epitomises more than a mere beverage; it’s a treasured holiday ritual.

It might be part of a pre-flight routine or a celebratory gesture to mark the beginning of an escapade, but that inaugural swig at the airport bar holds a sanctified status.

Indeed, fresh research reveals that one-third of travellers make a beeline for the pub post-security, with a robust 75% enjoying an impromptou breakfast beer before jetting off.

However, with almost 70% of holidaygoers admitting they splashed out more than planned on their last overseas jaunt, even that revered pint can stir up feelings of indulgent guilt. Enter the timely findings from WildPacks American Summer Camps, bringing a sigh of relief to the thrifty-minded voyager.

This outfit has scrutinised accessible pricing data across 15 principal UK airports to uncover which offers the best bang for your buck regarding pints, full English brekkies, and a warmed pre-flight meal.

Contrary to its reputation for exorbitant costs, London emerges as the cheapest spot in the UK for securing an airport pint, reports the Express.

Cheers to Wetherspoons, whose renown for cost-effective fare positions London’s Stansted, Heathrow, and Gatwick, right alongside Edinburgh and Birmingham, as the joint champions of wallet-friendly pints priced neatly at £5.20 each.

Jamie Fraiser, who established WildPacks American Summer Camps, remarked:

“We know an airport pint has become a rite of passage before a big trip, like spending a summer abroad, but with such a discrepancy between venues, it really does pay to know where is the cheapest in every terminal,” he said.

Among those offering a pint of Bud Light for £5.20 are Stansted’s The Windmill, Heathrow’s Crown Rivers, and Birmingham’s Wetherspoons. The Sir Walter Scott pub in Edinburgh also matches this price.

Even at Gatwick Airport, known for its higher prices, travellers can still find a budget pint at The Red Lion for the same amount.

However, not all airports are as wallet-friendly. If you’re jetting off from London Luton, be prepared to fork out £7.15 for a pint of Stella Artois at Nolito.

At Newcastle International, the price soars even further to £7.39 for a pint of Heineken at the Quaystone Bar and Kitchen.

As holidaymakers gear up for another summer of travel, these findings could help alleviate some of the pre-flight spending stress.

And while saving a few quid on a pint might not seem like a big deal, it’s a welcome relief for travellers accustomed to being pinched at every turn of their journey.

So, despite its pricey reputation, London might just be the best place to kick off your holiday with a cold, reasonably priced pint in hand.
