Princess Diana’s early hunch about Prince William‘s magnetism has proven to be accurate, as a royal expert points out following a recent YouGov poll that crowns the Prince of Wales as the most beloved member of the British Royal Family.
The latest figures show a whopping 75% of folks hold a positive view of the future king, with his spouse, Kate Middleton, nipping at his heels with a 72% approval rating since becoming an official member of “the Firm” with their April 2011 nuptials at Westminster Abbey.
Diana, who was just 21-years-old when she welcomed William into the world, confided to a royal reporter back in June 1982 that Britain was “lucky” to have him, subtly nodding to his potential mass appeal, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Chatting with the Mirror, Jennie Bond said: “Clearly, William is doing something very right. His informal, approachable way of going about his work is resonating with the public.”
Bond, who was friends with the late Diana and is now a royal commentator, has known William since he was a baby and watched him grow up. She talked about what she sees in him as an adult and a leader.
Bond said: “Even the way he talks is different to previous generations. He’s well spoken, of course, but not overly posh. He dresses well, of course, but is quite often wearing jeans and trainers.”
Bond added, “He’ll pose for selfies with the crowds, he’ll even work the camera for them if they get flustered! All this adds up to a prince and future King who seems reasonably in touch – despite his privileged status.”
Reflecting on Diana’s words, Bond shared, “As Diana once said to me: ‘William’s alright. The country is very lucky to have William.’ I think she was bang on.”
