Trump administration revokes Harvard’s right to enroll foreign students • FRANCE 24 English

It is the oldest and wealthiest university in the United States, one of the world’s most prestigious. Now, Trump’s Department of Homeland Security has revoked Harvard’s right to admit foreign students for the 202526 academic year. They account for more than a quarter of its enrollment, almost 6,800 people. Existing foreign students will have to transfer or lose their legal status. The Department of Homeland Security said Harvard’s leadership has created an unsafe campus environment by permitting anti-American proterrorist agitators to harass and physically assault individuals, including many Jewish students and otherwise obstruct its once venerable learning environment. Many of these agitators are foreign students. Why are you considering changing the tax status? Because I think Harvard’s a disgrace. I think what they did the move is a major escalation of the president’s fight with Harvard, which says the action is unlawful. The university’s international office said it was committed to maintaining its ability to host its international students and scholars who hail from more than 140 countries and enrich the university and the nation. The dispute stems from a request in April from Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noam demanding that Harvard turn over information about foreign students that might implicate them in violence or protests that could otherwise lead to their deportation. Noom says Harvard hasn’t complied. The university was the first to openly defy White House demands to limit pro Palestinian protests and eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. The federal government responded by cutting 2.6 $6 billion in federal grants.

Donald Trump’s administration has revoked Harvard University’s ability to enroll foreign nationals, putting the future of thousands of students at risk, with China on Friday slamming the “politicization” of educational exchanges. The US administration’s decision on Thursday threatened the prestigious university with a huge financial blow.
