To be fair, samurai are 100% the most overrated warrior culture ever (if you don’t count ninjas which aren’t really a “warrior culture” to begin with).
I’ve heard this story many times and there are quite a few sources debunking it as well. They were not samurai but pirates, well over half of whom Chinese, with Koreans and Ryukyuans likely making up some other percentages as well. Only a fraction were Japanese.
Pedro, those weren’t samurai, they were wakou pirates, who barely had any equipment fit to go against an organised military force, *at best* they had a few ronins with slightly better equipment than the rest amongst their ranks, but they were more akin to an armed gang than anything else, no shit you could beat them, it would’ve been embarrassing if you couldn’t

You mean a katana folded 1000 times by a 100 year old master couldn’t beat a good old fashioned drunk Spanish musketeer? Colour me surprised

What kind of warrior kills themselves instead of the enemy, are they stupid?
So… even with the battles of Cagayan, Pacos how do you explain Millan-Astray’s weabooness leading to the Spanish legion?

Spaniards were overpowered, God had to nerf them permanently.
At least the samurai had a unique personality and character, even if they were inferior in combat
