  1. Actually it’s more like “heartiee” or something like that. It’s not “Szatan Małe Serce”, it’s “Szatan Serduszko” despite what translator says 😉

  2. We didn’t start translating from original, but from French translation.

  3. Most names were weird, but… Komórczak is such cool name, literally better than Cell

  4. „Weird”? Don’t you mean „Based”? Also Roshi is named „The Genius Turtle”, also based.

  5. Japanese names of characters are also strange and funny. Gohan, Goku son means boiled rice for example.

  6. Yeah and Mr. Satan is Hercules

    🙄

  7. Piccolo in Italian means small, French wanted to change it but stay similar to pronounciation Piccolo and came up with Petit-Cœur, and we translated it accurately to Serduszko – Little Heart because somehow we got French version of Dragon Ball when it first came out in Poland. Given the fact that this series was a lot of the time up to some point pretty absurd comedy mixed with serious action, and there were a lot of funny/absurd names even in the original it kind of makes sense. Kind of, because naming that way the greatest and most serious villain of first DB is kinda bonkers. Don’t think that translators fully understood the series or understood it but only prior to Piccolo Daimao arc and didn’t anticipate it to become more and more serious. That’s why I always prefer to stay with original names, don’t translate it.

  8. In Portugal he had the exact same name as well. “Coraçãozinho Satan”

  9. I only watched this in English growing up but now I need to watch it in Polish

  10. On the other hand, piccolo is type of flute, ergo Szatan Flecik sounds even dumber. And also mildly sexual.

  11. I remember crying when he sacrified himself to save the earth, some of my family members still makes fun of me after over 20 years since that happened

  12. It’s hilarious seing this after I mentioned it at brittish friend’s stream

  13. Hey when I was 10 I never questioned it. The fact he’s called Piccolo which literally refers to a pickle, I’m guessing is as wacky as Satan Little Heart.

  14. Kakarot is translated as pajac (clown/idiot), I always wondered why Vegeta is so hostile towards Goku – he was not, it was translation fault

  15. In Portuguese is the same! The real Satan from DBZ is Hercules 😆

  16. There are lots of weird translations for Polish cartoons

Like Swampfire from Ben 10 got the swamp part translated … But no the fire part… And it just sounds so bad

  17. Wait, this guy is NOT Satan Little Hearth in original? What’s his name then?

  18. Still better than the Lithuanian voiceover calling Master Roshi as “Genie (as in the magical being that lives in a lamp and grants wishes) Turtle for some reason.

  19. In Hungary his name is Satan Junior and I never figured out why

  20. Portugal is the same: Coracaozinho de Sata! Satan’s little heart!
