A new night train connecting Warsaw in Poland to Rijeka in Croatia is set to launch next month.
PKP Intercity will operate trains along the route from 27 June 2025, with the journey taking around 19 hours. A seasonal route, trains will run four times a week until the end of summer, with the last service from Warsaw on 29 August, and the last from Rijeka from 31 August.
Trains will depart Warsaw at 2pm, passing through Katowice, Vienna and Ljubljana before its final stop in Rijeka just after 9am.
Poland’s Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak said of the new service, “Croatia is one of the leading holiday destinations for Poles. That is why we are launching today a unique offer of a train connection, which is competitive with travel by car or coach. In comfortable conditions, with the possibility of eating a meal or choosing a seat in a sleeper car, Poles can travel by train for their dream vacation this summer.”
Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia, after the capital Zagreb and Split, which is also located on the coast. The city served as the European Capital of Culture alongside Galway in Ireland in 2020.
Alongside gorgeous beaches, Rijeka is known for Trsat Castle, which dates back to the 13th century, as well as the Peek and Poke Museum, which is dedicated to old-school desktop computers and handheld video games.
You’ll also be able to take ferries from Rijeka’s harbour to other popular destinations including Rab, Cres and Zadar.
