Last night off of work and went to watch the bats in the garden but was caught by an unexpected early visitor

Just glad it wasn't our resident big bully boy!

  1. That’s unusual for a hedgehog to get up that close and personal, nice ☺️

  2. It’s nice to see an inflated one for a change. I usually only see the flat ones.

  3. They’re in decline, if practical (you mentioned tbe big bully boy, not sure what you mean there) it’d be nice of you to leave them out some water (especially with it being so hot lately) and dried cat food.

  4. I made a huge mistake the other day. I ran into a hedgehog at about 9pm, it was trundling down the footpath toward me, right next to a large cemetery which I’m sure is where it probably came from. It was heading toward a main road and I panicked it would get hit, so I picked it up and carried it back into the cemetery as I figured it must have taken a wrong turn out the gate. I only learned later that it was probably off somewhere as they can wander for a couple of miles a night. I only moved it about 50 meters or so, so I imagine it was fine, but probably scared it. Hopefully it was just mildly inconvenienced.

  5. When I was doing my paper rounds in the 80s, used to see these little fellas snuffling and moseying around before the sun came up in the mornings. Curious little things, I loved watching them. Sad they’re on the decline.
