  1. It’s just so little money though. Take that as you want but by time it comes to applying a new roof for 7k, 400k has been spent on reports, inspections, consultants, phases. Essays and so on. It just exponentially incrases with scale.

  2. This issue pops up in my mind every now and again and keep wondering as to whether anyone would remember to do anything about it.

I’m glad it’s not been forgotten by labour. It’s a massive failure to have allowed this to happen in the first place knowing that they’d crumble within a certain time and have nothing in place for replace or repair.

  3. Desperately needed. I’ve worked in a school where the first job of the morning was to empty the buckets under the leaks in your classroom roof. I’ve (at a different school) used Bunsen burners to try to warm up my classroom up into the double digits because the ancient heating system had packed in midwinter and it took over a week to fix.

It’s honestly hilarious that we spend time and money teaching trainees and ECTs about the importance of setting up the learning environment and then dump them into buildings that are actively detrimental to learning due to poor maintenance.

  4. To actually do anything or just funnel into private hands through outsourcing?
