That doesn’t look like 1913 (that would be pre-WW1!). Maybe late 20s or 30s?
Persil and Loewensenf – it’s oddly comforting to see familiar products, even that far back.
I like how they still have the same number of staff in each store today, even if the store is 10 times the size of this shop!
That wasn’t 1913, more like 1930s. Also note that at the time that picture was taken, there was no ALDI yet – what we see is the the shop that the Albrecht brother’s father owned and ran. It was a pretty average shop for its time. Only when the Albrecht brothers took over the business did they start to turn it into **AL**brecht **DI**scount, but that was after WWII.
