# **Current rules extension:**
Since the war broke out, disinformation from Russia has been rampant. To deal with this, we have extended our ruleset:
– No unverified reports of any kind in the comments or in submissions on r/europe. We will remove videos of any kind unless they are verified by reputable outlets. This also affects videos published by Ukrainian and Russian government sources.
– Absolutely no justification of this invasion.
– No gore
– No calls for violence against *anyone*. Calling for the killing of invading troops or leaders is allowed. The limits of international law apply.
– No hatred against any group, including the populations of the combatants (Ukrainians, Russians, Belorussians, Syrians, Azeris, Armenians, Georgians, etc)
– Any Russian site should only be linked to provide context to the discussion, not to justify any side of the conflict.
—
# **Current submission Rules:**
Given that the initial wave of posts about the issue is over, we have decided to relax the rules on allowing new submissions on the war in Ukraine a bit. Instead of fixing which kind of posts will be allowed, we will now move to a list of posts that are not allowed:
– **We have temporarily disabled direct submissions of self.posts (text), videos and images on r/europe**. You can still use r/casualEurope for pictures unrelated to the war.
– Status reports about the war unless they have major implications (e.g. “City X still holding would” would not be allowed, “Russia takes major city” would be allowed. “Major attack on Kyiv repelled” would also be allowed.)
– The mere announcement of a diplomatic stance by a country (e.g. “Country changes its mind on SWIFT sanctions” would not be allowed, “SWIFT sanctions enacted” would be allowed)
– Some Russian sites were already banned, like Russia Today and Sputnik. We may extend this ban to other Russian sites soon.
– We’ve been adding substack domains in our AutoModerator but we aren’t banning all of them. If your link has been removed, please notify the moderation team explaining who’s the person managing that substack page.
If you have any questions, [click here to contact the mods of r/europe](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/europe)

**Donations:**
If you want to donate to Ukraine, check [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/t03lml/want_to_support_ukraine_heres_a_list_of_charities/) or [this fundraising account by the Ukrainian national bank](https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/wiki/ukrainewar#wiki_donations).

**Fleeing Ukraine**
We have set up a wiki page with the available information about the border situation for Ukraine [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/wiki/ukrainewar). There’s also information at [Visit Ukraine.Today](https://visitukraine.today) – The site has turned into a hub for “every Ukrainian and foreign citizen [to] be able to get the necessary information on how to act in a critical situation, where to go, bomb shelter addresses, how to leave the country or evacuate from a dangerous region, etc”.

Btw, judging at how all the “modern” russian equipment (t-14 Armada, Su-57) is not even a part of this war, presumably because it does not exist(?), I would say that the claims about a weapon like Poseidon are complete bollocks.
[Lavrov](https://twitter.com/KyivIndependent/status/1513541715424161803?s=20&t=mp9f1-bilOruc9mbeYb5VA): Russia won’t stop war in Ukraine amid negotiations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that negotiations were ongoing but that Russia won’t stop its attacks.
He also denied that Russia was committing war crimes, calling the mass graves “staged.”

ESSENTIALLY, WE NEED TO FRIGGING SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE THEN THEY WILL BE SPOOKED.
There is a lot of attention on what Germany is (or isn’t) sending and some of that is probably justified, but what is France sending? The biggest military in the EU, one of the world’s biggest weapons exporters, who exported plenty of weapons to Russia in the past. I have seen reports of weapons sent from everywhere, from Spain to the Baltics, but no reports of French weapons. Not in any press releases, not in any images from the battlefield. Where is France?
How is the French election situation? If Le Pen wins, can France still be relied upon
Hello there.
Here is a message that I already know will be difficult to finish, because the ideas I want to convey come from affects that are only fleeting and thus difficult to name and describe.
I have been watching this YouTube channel called [Eli from Russia](https://youtu.be/mmwAKh153P8) since the war started.
The young woman is nice enough as she tries to see the light in everything around her while in the middle of difficult times.
She also reminds me a lot of a (distant enough) friend of mine who is exactly like her. They are both Russians and are the same age. Both speak slowly with that similar mindset that mixes some quiet paganism with a slightly tragic but at the same time self-soothing hope for a peaceful future.
Watching the videos, I have come to realize that I hate this Russian mindset. That I hate that Eli and that I do not want to hear about my (distant enough) friend anymore.
What one can see in the videos is someone that seems genuine and likable enough at first. She documents the inflation without trying to hide it. She mocks the new Instagram Russia is creating. She mentions the censorship. It feels quite bold given the current Russia she lives in.
But then pay attention to what is said in between and you get to hear long remarks on how everything is confusing right now and nothing can be for sure, which amounts to the usual bothsidism.
You hear that she loves her country and can guess the unabashed nationalism just below these words.
And then the mix of New Age love she spreads is kinda reminiscent of the Russian propaganda line – ‘civilians are suffering so let’s kinda hope the war ends’, which really means ‘Ukraine surrenders’ in their mind.
Eventually, it is disgusting. It feels like a snake is trying to hypnotize you into feeling sad for the Russians and into believing their BS line that Ukrainians are brothers, etc.
And I don’t know, it is extremely unpleasant eventually. Because it feels like the person is half way modern and half way both confused and confusing at the same time.
Ah!! Help me!!! It is difficult to describe. But it feels like there is a very tough pro-Russian monster behind the nature-loving dog-peting kindly religious person.
Tell me if you too have noticed this in Russian females. I know a few and they all exhibit these contradictory tendencies, most of the times probably unbeknownst to themselves.
It is like there is a facade of kindness through which offputting cracks cannot help but run every two minutes of otherwise gentle conversation. Suddenly, Russia is still noted as better, even if indirectly.
This is important because I am starting to realize that this must be the default mindset in Russia, which would then possibly better explain their regime, their policies and eventually their wars.

>UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Nearly two-thirds of all Ukrainian children have fled their homes in the six weeks since Russia’s invasion, and the United Nations has verified the deaths of 142 youngsters, though the number is almost certainly much higher, the U.N. children’s agency said Monday.
>
>Manuel Fontaine, UNICEF’s emergency programs director who just returned from Ukraine, said having 4.8 million of Ukraine’s 7.5 million children displaced in such a short time is “quite incredible.” He said it is something he hadn’t before seen happen so quickly in 31 years of humanitarian work.
–
>He said that of Ukraine’s displaced children, 2.8 million are in Ukraine and 2 million more are in other countries. At the same time, he said, nearly half the estimated 3.2 million children still in their homes in Ukraine “may be at risk of not having enough food,” with those in besieged cities like Mariupol facing the most dire situation.

Chomsky on Russian security concerns with Ukraine:
> It was stated clearly by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at his press conference at the United Nations: “The main issue is our clear position on the inadmissibility of further expansion of NATO to the East and the deployment of strike weapons that could threaten the territory of the Russian Federation.” Much the same was reiterated shortly after by Putin, as he had often said before.
> There is a simple way to deal with deployment of weapons: Don’t deploy them. There is no justification for doing so. The U.S. may claim that they are defensive, but Russia surely doesn’t see it that way, and with reason.

Jana Černochová, minister of defense:
> “I want to open up the topic of US base in the Czech Republic. I think given the sentiment that’s here, it might not be a problem.” Says Černochová. She will hold talks in the US after Easter with Lloyd Austin.
> Černochová also wants to discuss with the US Defence Minister purchases made by the Czech Republic, such as helicopters. “My goal is to get more helicopters than eight plus four. It was already clear to my predecessors that this is not final and now all purchases must be accelerated. We are lining up applicants for all military equipment, there is more demand for everything,” she noted.
Petr Fiala, PM:
> “We continue to take steps that will lead to strengthening the security and defence of the Czech Republic. It is clear that we have a number of specific tasks ahead of us, which are not easy, but which we want to accomplish.”

**In other news, I realized a lot of people are not exercising all of their democratic rights. You can contact** **government representatives and demand they do more – military aid, humanitarian aid, full energy embargo or just some e.g. oil embargo etc. Here is a sample of an email if you don’t feel like writing one:**
Dear [Name and title of representative],
I have been following the situation in Ukraine closely. Over the past week, we have witnessed atrocities against men, women and children on a scale we have not seen since World War II. The list of crimes and barbarity multiplies each day as adults and children are tortured, raped, murdered, and their corpses defiled. The words coming from Moscow make it clear they are fully committed to genocide against the Ukrainian people. I am very upset about these horrific crimes, as I am sure you are. It should be obvious that we cannot ask the Ukrainian people to submit to such evil as it would mean their complete destruction.
The key question in all this is what can we do to defeat Russia, push it out of Ukraine, and bring an end to the suffering of innocent people. The most obvious thing we can do is to provide more arms, and equipment while strengthening economic sanctions.
These actions are time-sensitive with the situation on the ground rapidly evolving. Weapons and sanctions a month from now may be too late. I strongly urge you and your fellow elected officials to act immediately.
Respectfully, [Your Name]

The victims of the poisonous substance spreading of unknown origin in the city of Mariupol are in a relatively satisfactory condition. Contact of the civilians with the substance was minimal, the epicenter was in some distance from the civilians location. The military were a little bit closer. However, it is impossible to investigate the scene of crime due to the enemy fire, because the Russians continue using the tactics of concealing their own crimes.
In the video, one can see a military in a moderate condition. The other two are under constant medical supervision. An elderly woman has the worst condition among the affected civilians.
The main symptoms of the victims are the following: facial hyperemia, high blood pressure, dryness and inflammation of the fauces and mucous membranes of the eyes.
It is clear now that the enemy has used the poisonous substances or potent poisonous substances, mainly the suffocating ones. However, due to a complete blockade the toxicological analysis is impossible. At the same time the main task is the control for the personnel condition and for the possible poisoning consequences.
