Iceland has issued an urgent product recall for a favourite lunchbox item due to the presence of an undeclared ingredient. This week, the frozen food retailer issued a recall to customers regarding a bread item, which should be returned to store if purchased.

Sharing the message on Wednesday, May 28, Iceland said it was recalling its sub rolls because of the presence of undeclared barley, which is not mentioned on the ingredients label. This could cause a risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten.

Shoppers visiting Iceland stores may spot ‘point of sale’ notices placed in shops across the UK to warn customers about the recall.

Products are recalled by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) when there’s a safety concern that could harm consumers. Reasons include manufacturing defects, or incorrect labelling.

The FSA works with businesses to issue alerts and inform consumers about recalled products. Food businesses are responsible for recalling products that are unsafe.

‌The Office for Product Safety and Standards also updates gov.uk with the latest products that have been pulled from shelves. OPPS are responsible for the regulation of most consumer goods excluding food, medicines, and vehicles.

The details of the product are listed in full below:
