> “Did you not pay attention to the dates at which things were changing?” asked District Judge Ciecióra. “You believed you were allowed to hold the gathering?”
Boris and the rule writers got to use a similar excuse. Rule of law and all that malarky. Either Boris pays £1k for each party hosted at Downing Street or this 22-year-old only has to pay £50.
It was really unclear at that stage what we were and weren’t allowed to be doing. People were throwing parties all over and it seemed that everything had changed. This couple are just the victims of wanting to be seen to be doing something to someone somewhere.
‘But not so you can watch Sky Sports’. Is being judgemental, out of touch and vindictive a requirement to be a judge?
Yet the entitled toffs in Downing Street get fined £50.
Class War, they’ve been doing it to us for years.
Offer them £1 a month. Say that’s all you can afford. You’re not refusing to pay but fuck them. Absolute cunts. There needs to be a protest about this sort of thing.
Well, when I aay protest, I mean a revolution.
*Judge agrees to lower monthly repayment amount – but ‘not so you can still watch Sky Sports or anything’*
****
I really do think a revolution is coming…
I cannot believe what I’m reading. This young couple need to kick up such a media furore that this gets stricken from the record and cancelled.
What an out of touch so called judge.
Talk about injustice!
Whats a baby shower?
Is this suppost to be ironic?
Yet our lawmakers can have parties and get away with a £50 fine.
The law exists to keep the working class in line. For the rich the law is just a suggestion, more guidelines than rules.
The judge would have had no choice but to issue the fines, but the dressing down and flippant remarks about Sky Sports were entirely voluntary, condescending and malicious.
Noone in this country should be fined for more than what Boris and the rest of his shit-cunt mates were fined.
Then when all the ‘normal people’ have been fined for no more than £50, Boris and his same shit-cunt group of prick mates should be fined for every fucking penny his government has handed to his best mates.
While Boris and co obviously should be fined massively more and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, I don’t have any sympathy for this couple. You broke poublic health laws in the midst of a pandemic, for a bloody baby shower.
To paraphrase an old adage, ‘*cant pay the fine, don’t do the crime*’.
Anyone who knows about the law know why it was £50 for MPS but £1000/2000+ for the citizens who are not MPS?
One rule for them, One rule for the rest.
The fact these kinds of fines can occur and the twats in the Government got £50 fines is a fucking joke.
Hopefully they can appeal.
There is a famous quote, apologies I dont know the original person.
If a crimes punishment is only a fine, then it is only a crime for the poor.
Remember poor people aren’t allowed ‘nice’ things, essentials only…
What a dick of a judge.
I don’t get the comments on this thread. Should you not be fined if you hosted a party during a global pandemic?
I get that the judge is an asshole for making the comment she made, and I get it that Boris isn’t getting fined when he should, but how does that change the legitimacy of the fine?
I’m not gonna go pitty idiots that did parties when it was forbidden due to global health.
Why didn’t any higher ups at party gate get fined? They threw all the junior staff u der the bus and got away with it, and then fine people like the ones in this story.
People should have stood up to this bollocks at the time. Lockdownists should be spurned at every opportunity
Remember there’s a war on Boris told me that’sore important…
It seems incredibly unfair (and inconsistent with other fines coming to light) for them both to be fined £1000 separately, despite being from one house, and it being the same event.
This is just appalling. Any judge giving out this kind of sentence for this level of ‘criminality’ should be no where near a court.
The government and some of their advisors are the ones who should be given fines for not only setting incredibly damaging lockdown rules that might have had worse consequences than covid itself, but for having the gall to break them themselves.
How is this possible when our own government who imposed those insane rules on us broke the law constantly? There has to he some accountability and consequences for that surely. Namely anyone who was fined can tell them to fuck off and should not have to pay anything..
I thought fines were “up to “£1000 for the hosts” not at this level.
Giving them both a fine seems wrong.Days before says this headline – but if you read the article it was MORE than 2 weeks!Anyone could use the excuse.Hosts get fined more than attendees. Wasn’t it £1000 for hosts. £50, then £100, then £200 for attending?
Does not explain why Downing St people are ONLY getting £50.
Do these sorts of charges get seen in a court with a jury or is it all on the judge when it comes to small-time crime?
Genuinely curious as I couldn’t see myself siding with the judge if I was a juror on this one
If they can afford baby showers and party’s they cant be that hard up! Fine them more!!!
The double standards are outta this world. When Bojo and his cronies had a party they were all fined £50 each whilst they’re earning a shit ton of money furthermore the money they’re earning is pretty much taxpayers. And here we have a couple who are broke asf and are fined 2k what is going on!?
To be fair, baby showers are a rancid commercial americanism that has crept into this country.
The fine should have been £10k.
>**“That’s the way it was. Privilege, which just means ‘private law.’ Two types of people laugh at the law; those that break it and those that make it.”**

Can’t they just say that they weren’t correctly informed about the rules?
If it’s good enough for the Prime Minister then surely people less connected to government can’t have any idea what they were meant to do.
£50 for Boris & co when their the ones setting the rules and most their parties were at the height of covid so a lot more at risk but a couple get fined 2k days before the rules change
Can they not crowd fund it? I would contribute and I’m sure loads of people on here would?
If Partygate is not resolved before the next general election, there should be a political-party that pledges to fully reimburse each and every citizen living in this country during the Lockdown period. Remove all fines and penalties for breaking lockdown rules, because the politicians in power were either not charged, or charged as little as £50. That’s the cost of 20 cups of Costa coffee.
Weird how it only applies to the general public and nobody in a position of power or wealth. I agree the virus was dangerous and posed a risk to many people, but the whole thing was used as a money maker for the most part and the fact that LFT’s actually cost now just goes to show.
Like when you had to pay for one to go abroad but one of the free ones apparently were ‘unsuitable’.
Don’t get me wrong, they shouldn’t have had a gathering when the virus was rife, but to be hammering people with ridiculous fines after the governments shenanigans is a bloody joke.
Too right! I’d take the child off them too on account of the trauma the poor thing will inevitably face when growing up with such selfish idiots.
Selfish, selfish, selfish. Horrible people. No sympathy.
They did deserve to get fined.
I know what you are going to say, ‘… but Boris….,’ and you are right, they deserve a £2,000 fine for every gathering, with their, ‘Wine Night Fridays,’ and all the one off gatherings it would probably hit £75,000.
I agree with the inconsistency.
My sympathy ended when reading it was a baby shower. Something imported from the U.S. that should have stayed there.
If you got fined for a lockdown breach on one of the same days that BoJo had a party then you’re legally allowed to pick a Tory and just murder them.
I thought the fines were £50?
Or is that the “mates rates” for Johnson and his buddies?
£50 for the tories as they quaffed champagne in the peak of lockdown
£2000 for you pleb how fucking dare you
I got fined 100 quid for picking up someone else’s cigerette in Brighton. They pay a man at the station to watch for people littering. He saw me pick it up, and said because it had hit the floor, it was my responsibility. He wouldn’t take no for an answer and called a policeman to detain me.
Instead of it goigin the bin, I chucked it on the ground. So nothing got picked up. The man there to prevent littering didn’t help at all.
