Dance teacher, 48, spared jail after bombarding boy, 13, with ‘intensely sexual’ texts

  1. Why is she still out?! If this was a man I’m sure he’d be vilified and behind bars like she should be ! Disgraceful

  2. I love that all the “mitigating factors” being used to water down her culpability; like being drunk or in an unhappy marriage, would be strapped onto a man as lead weights to bolster the case against him.

  3. If this had been a Male teacher and a girl that age, it would not have happened like this.

    Absolutey disgraceful.

  4. Once again all the talk about this totally misses the actual elephant in the room; the state of prisons in this country. Not only are they full and overcrowded but they are also awful, horrible places, full of smuggled drugs, perpetually high inmates, gang warfare, recruitment and intimidation and underpaid and overworked prison staff.

We should have better prisons, with better standards, better paid staff, more scope for rehabiliation and post-release support, and, of course, more spaces. Then you can throw people like this in prison like they deserve, but the fact is, I’d rather have someone who stabbed someone in prison than this woman if it’s a choice of one or the other (and it literally is). Whenever someone ‘doesn’t go to prison’ who we think as a society should, it’s nearly always because our prisons are a joke. Unfortunately, putting more money in prisons is seen as political kryptonite, even though it would actually significantly improve our society and not even cost that much in the grand scheme of things.

  5. Adult (and one in a privilaged position, ie: teacher) sends sexual texts to a child….what’s the word I’m looking for? Beings with a P.

  6. Men get away with sex crimes all the fucking time.

Can we stop making this about women having it easier and just be outraged at how often children and adult victims are let down by the justice system and how frequently offenders get off.

This attitude doesn’t actually help anyone and just creates further divides.

I was groomed, abused and raped by a man and he never saw any jail time, he was temporarily put on the sex offenders register but he is not anymore. My father abused my sibling, got away with it.

Some examples of male teachers who were spared prison time.

Obviously this is just a small selection of examples but they were not hard to find. This is not about women getting away with anything. This is about PAEDOPHILES and SEX OFFENDERS getting away with things ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

Let’s all be outraged together about how often the justice system fails victims rather than tearing each other apart.

  7. If it was a 48-year-old male teacher doing this to a 13-year-old girl, he’d be getting at least half-a-decade in prison, a lifetime on the sex offenders register, have vigilantes on his trail and would have his face plastered all over the papers, ensuring he never gains any kind of meaningful employment ever again. Ms Hesse got a slap on the wrist by comparison for mitigating circumstances (alcoholism, depression, childhood trauma, alcoholism) that would otherwise be considered aggravating for a male defendant.

We need to drop these societal double-standards when it comes to judging sex offenders by their gender. The societal outrage and abhorrence of a sex crime shouldn’t be determined on whether the defendant is a man or a woman.

Frankly, what Ms Hesse did was a very serious crime and should be treated as such.
