Hi I’m planning to tour all 8 cities, in a day, and try and get a pint in each…. Daft I know but like a challenge.
Timings are in the spreadsheet….
I’ve highlighted Perth and Dundee which look extremely tight. Anyone got suggestions for a quicker pint in these 2 cities?
Any other tips welcome?
I’ve still to work out in reverse see if it works better.
Dunfermline throws it out a fair bit unfortunately.
Cheers!

  1. Wouldn’t it make more sense to go Glasgow-Stirling-Edinburgh-Dunfermline-Dundee-Perth-Dundee-Aberdeen-IInverness?

  2. There’s way closer pubs than the Guildhall to Dunfermline City. You could go to Queen Margaret, there’s one near.

  3. There’s a couple places in Glasgow and Edinburgh that serve drink before 10am which you’d need to go to if this is at all going to be possible. Probably scuppers your train plans though.

  4. Never seen a spreadsheet proposal for getting absolutely smashed before. R/Scotland never ceases to amaze

  5. Don’t go to Brewdog FFS. If you’re in Aberdeen go to the Prince Of Wales or Triple Kirks.

Also Inverness, go to Johnny Foxes, the Gellions or the Market Bar.

  6. In Dundee, head to the Star and Garter, but don’t go in, cross the road, walk 23 seconds up the way, and get a far better pint in The Bank Bar.

You’d also be putting money in the coffers of a non-arsehole owned bar.

  7. Planning an itinerary is fun in itself. Are you bringing a catheter?

  8. I’ll be cold and dead in the ground before I recognise Dunfermline as a city.

  9. The Cold Beer Company in Stirling is a bit of a shitehole. Molly Malones is actually closer to the station but you could just walk a bit further and go to the Curly Coo. They’ve got Schiehallion on tap.

  10. It’s a steep hill from the train station in Dunfermline to the wetherspoons 14 minutes is an ambitious pace to set yourself, taxi rank outside the station would be my reccomendation, but if you’re getting a taxi there’s much better pubs than spoons

  11. Don’t give Tim Martin any money, come out of Waverley up the steps, cross the road and go to the Guildford Arms behind the Apple Store.

  12. You don’t seem to be having a pint in Glasgow at the moment, so only 7 pints

  13. Cost of 8 pints: about £35

Cost of 8 train tickets: about £250

Cost of missing your connection and being stranded at a pub in Perth: Priceless

  14. Bold of you to assume the trains will run on time…

    Consider your back up plans.

4 of my 6 trains in the last few weeks have been cancelled, severely delayed, or terminated early.

  15. This seems stressful. I’m not sure you’ll be able to enjoy any of the pints 😂

  16. Love the energy but IMO your travel time to drinks ratio is off. You’ll spend the bulk of the day either choking for a beer or busting for a slash sitting on the bus/train, and if there are any transport delays (in the UK? Delays??) you’re knackered.

You also need time to take a selfie outside each station and each pub (and with your almost empty glass)…

  17. Dundee train station has a pub in it! Just grab a pint there!

  18. This reads like one of those mad travel itineraries that Americans make to try and tour Scotland in a weekend

  19. Have you tried Perth in between dunferminline and Dundee?
