  1. Council PR, look, we’re doing ‘something’. Unless there’s a letter or label with a name and address on it they won’t do anything with the ‘crime scene’.

  2. This is peak Lewisham.

Well, actually no. It would be peak Lewisham if the paving stones were broken.

  3. Genuine question, would it just be cheaper for councils just collect this stuff from homes for free rather than picking up fly tipping?

  4. Perhaps it’s designed to discourage others from doing the same thing. After all fly-tipping is unlawful, unneighbourly and only encourages others to do likewise.

  5. It’s actually very well wrapped. I assume these guys are gift wrapping in John Lewis at Xmas.

  6. Lewisham Council are jokers! Bin men broke my bin and want £40 “admin fee” to replace even if we didn’t cause the damage.
They want about £100 per year for a garden waste bin!
What are people supposed to do?
No wonder there is fly tipping. The council is only interested in generating revenue!
If I could get away with not paying this TAX I would!

  7. Honest question how do they catch this? Unless you write your name and address on your stuff, or drive there and get your registration caught on camera, what do they do? I doubt facial recognition is being used for fly tipping

  8. Fly tipping. It winds me the fuck up so much.

    Here’s how to fix it.

You hire a bunch of enforcement officers combined with spend on tech (cameras with facial recognition and car registry recognition).

When you find someone guilty of fly tipping. You repossess their vehicle and give full ownership to the council who can then sell it and use the proceeds to pay for officers and tech.

Once people realise they are losing their cars or their vans – which they need for work – this shit will stop overnight.

  9. >Whats next, the DNA test?

Yup, they’re gonna do what the STASI did and collect the arse sweat.

  10. This is freakishly close to my house lol. Fwiw I used the “Love Clean Streets” app to report fly tipping on this street and they picked it up within a week or so.

Looks like there’s a couple of reports nearby so maybe this is being marked for pickup?

  11. Lewisham is so rubbish for this. We complained about it and they stuck up a plastic sign at the bottom of our road saying you can get an on the spot fine. People still dump their stuff there. Then one day I caught a guy dumping two fridges. I called the police and they just let him off with a slap on the wrists.
