Expansion of the Moscow metro system over time from europe

  1. Moscow metro is an example in its steady grow. It is not included but afaik every year a few new stops are added to the metro.

This is how it should be in major European cities as well, steady growth of rail network instead of leaving some areas without rail access until a new line is built in a decade.

  2. The timer is way too slow and completely detached from the timelapse. The Grey line was built mostly during Gorbachev era, and the Lime line was built after the collapse of the USSR

  3. There is an apocryphal story that the first circular ring – the dark brown one – was conceived by an engineer looking for ways to reduce travel time between suburbs who put his coffee cup down on his metro map

  4. Moscow’s metro is probably my favorite metro system. The stations look great, and the size is impressive. I’d love visiting it one day.
