Posted this like 5 times to try and fix the PNG quality, unfortunately couldn’t do it. Currently working on a project called Hirebase (www.hirebase.org) where we scrape millions of jobs off of boards like myworkday and tag/categorize them, made with plotly.
I feel like there are way too many confounding variables for this to be meaningful in any way.
I feel like this would need to be adjusted by COL or something – a job that pays $150k in one state won’t pay the same in a lot of other states
The highest paying jobs have the highest visa sponsorship rates in predominantly red states….ugh….the cognitive dissonance is the cause of so much trauma.
If an employee makes a low income the cost of sponsorship doesn’t make sense.it can be $10K or more on renewal.
What kind of jobs is vermont sponsoring for low wage workers?
kind of skeptical of the data’s usefulness in certain places like outside of the major population centers.
For example, in 80-90k, it’s 30% for Wyoming, while 0% for North Dakota. Then flip to 90-100k and it flips to 0% for Wyoming and 30% for North Dakota.
Makes me think there just aren’t many datapoints in those areas, but somehow you scraped 1.3 M jobs. so IDK.
Slightly confused on the percentage. So 25.5% of jobs with a posted salary above 150K in Montana say they will sponsor a visa for employment? Assuming you skipped job posts that don’t list a salary, which might cause some discrepancy between states that require a salary range on job posts like CO or IL.
Didn’t know there were low level jobs with Visa sponsorship. Usually it’s really expensive
H1Bs need to be drastically reduced or company leaders thrown in jail because they are absolutely not vetting Americans first.
Just the fact they are advertising Visa sponsorship means they arent going through Americans first.
