Head of US-backed Gaza aid foundation resigns from his position • FRANCE 24 English

A first reported sign of movement from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. The initiative says it began distributing food this Monday at hubs in central Gaza and Al- Mawasi with promises of more deliveries going forward. Yet this US and Israelbacked plan is under heavy scrutiny with the UN and aid groups slamming it as a facade, accusing Israel of turning food into a weapon in its battle against Hamas. How are el the elderly who are have been starved supposed to walk miles and miles to access humanitarian assistance? How are children who have no parents uh supposed to enter what may be militarized zones to collect assistance? After Jake Wood’s bombshell resignation on Sunday, the foundation has announced a new interim director, John Akri. It’s also vowed to feed 1 million Palestinians by the weekend. Wood walked away, declaring the operation lacked independence. Shadowy private security firms staffed by XCIA and Blackwater operatives guard the hubs, screening recipants for Hamas ties. Appears to be an effort to feed just enough uh Gazen civilians so that the starvation is then targeted more precisely at Hamas and its operatives. Israel claims the system blocks Hamas from hijacking aid, a charge the UN refutes. Hamas themselves have warned Palestinians not to cooperate with the new aid system. But as Gaza teeters on the brink of famine with 90% of its people displaced, mystery continues to shroud this aid plan with questions persisting over its funding, its ties to Israel’s security apparatus, and its true purpose.

The head of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, Jake Wood, resigned on Sunday from his position as head of the organization at the center of a controversial US-backed plan to distribute aid in Gaza, citing a lack of independence. The UN and experts have said the Israeli-endorsed plan facilitates the use of food scarcity as a weapon of war against Palestinians in Gaza, and criticized its use of notorious private security firms to secure aid distribution hubs.
