An 18-month-old girl has died after she was hit by a car in a driveway in Sydney’s west.

Ambulances rushed to the home on Culgoa Bend, Villawood, about noon on Saturday. The toddler was treated by paramedics at the scene.

She was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, but police said she later died.

Police went to the home and were told the car was driven by a 28-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

The incident will be investigated by officers attached to the crash investigation unit and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

In a separate incident on Saturday afternoon, a man in his 50s died in Sydney’s south after the motorcycle he was riding and a ute collided.

The crash occurred on Old Princes Highway at Helensburgh about 1pm. Paramedics rushed to treat the man but he died at the scene.

The 26-year-old driver of the ute was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

The police crash investigation unit is now investigating. The Old Princes Highway was closed to motorists in both directions between Helensburgh and Waterfall.
