A local Colorado councilman has sensationally lost his seat after he allegedly shot a 17-year-old in the face while the teen was looking for a picturesque spot to take homecoming photos. Brent Metz, 39, was removed from his seat last week in a recall vote by horrified residents of Mountain View, a

  1. This “trespassing” concept simply by walking on land deeded to another human is so absurd and uniquely American. Combine that with guns and here we are.

  2. Before reading the article I’m guessing he’s Republican. He’ll probably get convicted, but pardoned by Trump.

  3. I don’t know Colorado law but trespassing isn’t walking up a driveway and knocking.

  4. Sounds like he might have a career in a higher office

  5. Quickly recovered???? The victim is going to have scars… externally and psychologically!

  6. Metz is a registered Republican. Who could have guessed? Where does this idea come from that people, just being near your property, can be killed without consequence? Aren’t people allowed to say they’re lost? That they wanted permission to take photos? As a 6’3 man, did he “fear for his life”?

  7. *’I am thankful that this individual appears to have quickly recovered, and I want to assure you that I never intended to harm anyone,’ he said in the letter*

He only intended to shove a gun into a stranger’s face and threaten them, not blow their face off. He’s real sorry, and he won’t pull the trigger next time, he’s pretty sure. Maybe.

  8. Hope the kids sue the shit out of him and gets left with nothing

  9. >”**Misspelling his client’s name,** he added that Locher was ‘confident that Mr Mets (sic) will be found not guilty, as he is presumed, and as all the facts will be established at trial.’

    People. Are. So. Fucking. Dumb.

  10. Another gun nutter enjoying his second Amendment rights. What say all you gun nutters out there?

  11. Why aren’t people neighborly and sociable anymore?! It’s those damn video games.

  12. He’ll be pardoned like all the other criminals wearing the Fascist Brown Suit…

  13. you pull a loaded gun on people but did not intend to harm them????

  14. The teens go to the door with intention to ask permission to take photos, no one answers, decide to leave a note. They were being respectful and get shot for it…….like dude!?! I blame the girlfriend too, THEY CAME TO THE DOOR and she decides to call the cops and Metz on false allegations of trespassing?

  15. Sooo…

“Metz was charged with one count of assault in the second degree, two counts of menacing and one count of illegal discharge of a firearm.

Addressing constituents and neighbors querying why he wouldn’t just resign, he insisted upon his innocence and asked: ‘What would you do, if you were wrongfully accused of a crime? However much easier a choice this would be, would you abandon your sworn obligation to your neighbors and community?’”

…how was he “wrongfully accused”? He shot the kid in the face. In front of witnesses. And he’s also pleading not guilty when, again, someone clearly saw him do it, and he admits the gun went off. WTF?

  16. Wow the youth that was shot seems to be very forgiving

  17. I don’t know how this guy is out on bail when the alleged crime is so serious. The young man could easily have been killed.

And in many Western countries walking to a front door of someone’s home is never trespassing, it’s considered public access for obvious reasons.

US idea of trespass is crazy. And for the gun nuts, I thought you weren’t meant to draw and aim a firearm unless you were planning to discharge. And isn’t keeping a round in the chamber usually discouraged?

The scary thing is that a third of the voters in the recall vote chose not to recall him. I think we can guess the backgrounds of that group, it’s the ppl that think they can make America great again by shooting people who knock on your door 😂
