Usually, those are protected species. You should get a professional to remove them if they are an issue for you.
Isn’t it illegal in Germany to kill wasps? I’m not a lawyer. Would call a professional if you want it gone.
Remove them but be sure to not tell anyone.
Get a professional, they are under nature protection and are not allowed to be removed by you.
How are you gonna kill it if you attempt to dislodge it and the wasps buzz out to see who’s trying to break into their house. Then you’ll be in a world of trouble. Just get a professional to do it.
HANS ! GET ZE FLAMMENWERFER !
Illegal to kill
Just leave it there… they pose no thread, and the artwork of their Building is awesome…

If you kill one wasp, since the are protected, it costs up to 30k€ fine. Killing a whole nest will cost you a fortune!
Don’t!
****JUST CALL A VETERINARY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT*****
You can go easy way, just hang paper bag near by. Yellowjackets are very territorial and will leave this nest. Had issues with them lust spring, crumple paper bag and hang it.
I am having a similar issue right now, they somehow got into my roof/right beneath it (Dachgeschoss Wohnung). I can not see them, only hear them when knocking on my wall.
What are the next steps? Who do I alert?
Any point in giving the local Imkerverein or Landesbehörde a call (mb a recommendation for a specialist) or just call a random specialist?
Not sure if my parents have a Hausratsversicherung and if that would cover any costs
Wespen stehen unter Naturschutz. Notfalls die Feuerwehr benachrichtigen, aber nicht selbst Hand anlegen
I keep getting prompted with “what’s the biggest cultural thing about Germany that’s different” posts from this sub and now I’m thinking it’s wasps.
I’d be pumping a couple of cans of wasp spray into that nest the first evening of the day I found it. You could make bondage sex ed in grade school mandatory in the US before you could make wasp nests on buildings something protected.
I get and generally support not disturbing nests in more wild places — about a half dozen times in the 25 years I’ve lived in my house we discover there’s been a huge paper wasp nest high in a tree at the front of our property, and that’s not really a problem. But on/near human activity property, it’s a legitimate risk.
Wasps are just as important to nature as bees, they also pollinate
Professional relocation of a wasp nest: 100-200 Euro.
Relocation by a local beekeeper: ask. Very often free or you buy some glasses of his honey.
Being observed by a malevolent neighbour while you try to remove it yourself (+ a couple of wasp stings) and being reported to local authorities: at least 10k.
Or just keep it as it is. We had a nest directly on the balcony some time ago and it was an surprisingly peaceful together. “You corner, my corner”.
I feel like people who talk about getting professionals here arent from the country and dont know how often these nests appear, you would be paying your ass off if you got a professional everytime.
As a kid, i just knocked These small ones off with a broomstick and that was enough.
Have them removed. But don’t just do it yourself.
They are in a place where they prevent you from using your shed, that is sufficient grounds for removal even if it is a protected species (the foto isn’t good enough to determine what they are though).
You can try contacting your local beekeepers society, they often know people who are authorized to do removals.
If you do it yourself and someone tells the authorities the fines can be substantial.
