  1. Prohibition is going to start improving this situation any day now

  2. Not surprised, the Irish government has willingly made it one of the most profitable substances on the planet. They’ve been dragging their heels on decriminalisation for years which has been proven elsewhere to lower addiction rates and the harms associated with harder drugs.

  3. That’s a fair statement!! Everyone thinking they’re something throwing a line of shite up their noses ………

  4. No shit.. Ireland hasn’t got anything in their arsenal to stop narco boats/subs effectively.

  5. All research and successful drug policy shows that treatment should be increased and law enforcement decreased, while abolishing mandatory minimum sentences.

Been saying it for years so I have.

  6. I am interested in seeing how this plays out in 20/30 years time when people realise their hearts are properly fucked.

Cocaine really is a dangerous drug.

  7. Honestly its not just Ireland. I travel back and forth from dublin to leeds in the england and it’s everywhere the locals pubs are suffering with the young fellas sniffing this ballocks. They don’t even try to hide it or be desecrate.

  8. Read an article yesterday that smoking ban in pubs is why they are closing so many had to laugh. Am like llno lads it’s because ppl don’t drink cause 60% of ppl prefer doing lines in the toilets instead

  9. I like to guess who the people are who are not on coke, that’s the real challenge. I’m just surprised the toilet doors have working hinges.

  10. We’re so far down the rabbit hole with drugs that I struggle to see what the solution is. I can’t see a wait back.

  11. I previously would have taken it if offered or casually on nights out. Next day I’d be genuinely worried about my heart. Drink in senses out sometimes.

Anyway i like to take a wee half portion of shrooms on a night out. Much better craic. You end up drinking less. Laughing more. No hangover.

  12. In other news the sky is blue and Jimmy Saville is a peado

  13. It’s not only in the pubs….
I work in a shop that sells digital scales. Not long ago I had a chap come in asking to buy one, he was very obviously high on his on supply. Really awkward customer, couldn’t wait to get rid of him. After 15 minutes of faffing around and picking what he wanted he says “right, I’m off to referee an under 12 hurling match” what the fuck?

  14. Every coke head I knew ten years ago is now mad into Reiki, matcha, doing sea swims and hikes of a Sunday morning. And giving out about immigrants online. The wheel turns.

  15. From dublin but late last year travelled to Sligo for a funeral. One side of the family is from the countryside. Had the afters in a fairly isolated area bar in Ballygawly. A few trade lads walked in after work and started doing line in the back of the bar. It really is every where I’ve been. It’s far worse than people realise.

  16. They found coke in the White House so every pub in Ireland is pretty standard

  17. It’s weird as way back before Celtic tiger era coke was seen as a drug for wankers and people not to be trusted.

  18. Never done it. Never will.

However I think we should move more towards decriminalisation, tax the shit out of it, go after anyone selling it to kids (also, tobacco and alcohol) and use the money for treatment and mental health services.

Also, track usage. If it goes up, figure out what quality of life issues the government is failing on and fix them.

Oh, and regardless of the drug, you can only take it in a way that doesn’t dose others. So no more vaping or smoking. I think people should be allowed to *not* consume drugs too.

  19. Worth noting that most weekend users who buy it at 11pm while pissed are buying hardly any coke and mostly paracetamol. Purity ranges from 20 -50%. The Gards tested thousands of samples and the actual amount of cocaine is scandalous but far less harmful than cocaine in South America.

  20. It was the same during the Celtic Tiger. You’ll find cocaine wherever you find wealth.

I was working as a carpenter back then and there used to be heaps of lads popping into the toilet for a line on the site.

    It’s not a new problem.

  21. Put whatever feelings you have about coke to one side, and accept the reality that prohibition doesn’t work.

It not only doesn’t work, it makes the problem worse.

Society will never halt an individual’s desire for drugs, and there will always be people who will sell those people drugs. You will never “win the war on drugs”. This is reality. When you go through life you need to interact with reality, and not how you feel things should be. The longer the state denies reality the more harm is done. This is effectively the same thing as treating cancer in a patient by wishing they didn’t have cancer and making cancer illegal. It’s utterly pointless.

If people want drugs, provide a legal mechanism to sell them drugs.

Also, for the record I’ve never used coke, don’t want to use coke, don’t like what coke does to people, and am not a cocaine advocate. I don’t want anything to do with it, but I don’t want drug dealers gaining power and influence.

  22. Last Saturday night a guy asked me if I was looking to buy cocaine.

Yesterday evening (around 7pm), on a busy street in Dublin another guy asked me the same.

And I thought that Lisbon was bad.

  23. I’m shocked at how many of my middle aged peers are doing it.

  24. I was fully addicted in Ireland for 2 years taking 7g a week

Then I lived in Colombia for 5 months taking 14g a week and 56g of weed a week for 90 quid..

    They’re no benefits only downsides..

    Somehow it’s normalised here

They don’t put enough pressure on the dealers

My local dealer is 4 years in making 💸💸💸, we all know who he is but he doesn’t get stopped.
What a joke.. openly hiring drivers for 1500 a night..

17 months sober now, life’s great

  25. Nothing worse than being out for a quiet few pints In the country local and some ape goes in and acts all Henry the hoover in the jacks and comes out and blows the fuckin ear off you for an hour talking absolute scutter.

  26. They would want to have cocaine in every bar with the prices they are changing.

  27. Cocaine is a hell of a drug wait until the paranoia kicks in. It doesn’t start until you’ve been doing it for a while. Then the next thing you know you’re staring out your window all night waiting for a SWAT team to show up.

  28. It’s mad how normalized it has become. I’ll be heading out in a few hours with me mates and I can guarantee at least 2 of them will have a bag ready for the night ahead.

Don’t take the stuff anymore meself and haven’t for a while, it was fucking ruining me mental state for weeks on end after a heavy night on it. Not even drinking at the moment so it should be good fun listening to some all out waffle come 8 o clock.

  29. Sober me hates it, drunk me loves it, very hard for me to say no when offered a line or bump after a feed of pints. So I just don’t go out anymore unless it’s for a few quite day drinks with a small few of us.
