BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – You are invited to take a trip to the Louisiana Art and Science Museum in downtown Baton Rouge to enjoy many activities taking place in June.
Museum officials released the following details about events that you can enjoy.
Sunday, June 1 – First Free Sunday
On the first Sunday of June, the museum is hosting a day of exploration, creativity, and discovery with free admission to galleries and various hands-on activities for all ages.
Also, for a reduced admission of $5, you get access to unlimited surround-sound fulldome planetarium shows.
Wednesday, June 4 – Kickoff to the Beat the Heat Summer Series
The museum’s Beat the Heat Summer Series starts on Wednesday, June 4. You can enjoy a daily lineup of engaging, educational, and family-friendly programs at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum and the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium.
Saturday, June 28 – LASM’s Annual Dino Day
The Louisiana Art & Science Museum will host its annual Dino Day on Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with a paleontologist as they are introduced to “Jason,” the 66-million-year-old Triceratops skull on display at LASM.
Dino Day will include hands-on activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in collaboration with various community partners and immersive, dinosaur-themed shows in the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium until 5 p.m.
Visitors will be able to experience “Jason” the Triceratops, who is generously on loan to LASM by Raising Cane’s and the Todd Graves Family. “Jason” has been an extremely popular attraction for visitors – especially students visiting the museum during field trips – since 2016.
BASF’s Kids’ Lab chemistry workshops will also be offered at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. for children ages 6-12 and their accompanying adults, and BASF’s Pop-up Science will present STEAM-related engagement from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for visitors of all ages.
