A vast amount of Russian Ka-52 footage downing drones has been released in the past few days, showing the use of army aviation in the role of air defense. Ukraine has been doing the same, releasing a large amount of footage from door gunners on Mi-8s against Shaheds!

Cool footage, too bad it gets downvoted by the casuals
I’m not picking a side of a war that does not concern me, but i will say this pilot was a good shot, its not easy hitting a tiny target without expending your combat load.
Where’s AA when you need it…. Oh it would be so glorious to watch a streaking missile fly up and take that fucker out.
What kinda caliber is that cannon. 20 mm?
Sides aside that was a SHOT
I honestly thought they ran out of Ka-52s. Looks like they’re relegated to rear echelon stuff now, if this is the kind of duty it’s pulling now.
Great use of an attack helicopter, shooting down drones over Russia.
I’d be uploading this myself if this were my shot 👏
I support Ukraine but man is the KA-52 a Beautiful piece
By all accounts, the Ka-52 has proven itself an extremely capable attack helicopter during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It’s also not especially numerous (certainly by comparison with the Mi-8, but even by comparison with the somewhat similar AH-64) so I do wonder if it’s really cost effective to be using it to pick off individual drones. As always, this is really decided by the value of what the kamikaze drone was going to hit; but I think the Ka-52’s capability to pick off multiple Ukrainian and Western MBTs from beyond MANPAD range, must be much more important than its capability to pick off kamikaze drones if it manages to intercept them during daylight hours. Ka-52 as part of an integrated air defence system? – I’m not convinced.
(Comparing again with the AH-64 – based on the thousands that the USA and its allies have in operation, it would make sense for them to be used in this role if necessary; which is unlike the Ka-52 of which Russia has perhaps a couple of hundred in operation.)
Bro what a SHOT. How did he nail that
