  1. > “I am so grateful to George [Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called ‘Star Wars’ ‘the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,’” he said. “We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I’m appreciative of that, but I think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.”

    > He continued, joking that he “disappeared in [‘The Last Jedi’], I left my robes behind. And there’s no way I’m gonna appear as a naked force ghost.”

  2. They really fumbled his character in The Last Jedi. He should have had the biggest send off of any Star Wars character and it just didn’t hit the mark. still just feels like a waste of Mark Hamill

  3. Star Wars needs to find new feet, it’s fanbase is dying and as China has shown, people who don’t have the nostalgia factor for it don’t care for it much.

  4. So grateful for Mark with his iconic performance in the originals and his incredible job giving Luke a perfect finishing arc in The Last Jedi. Absolute amazing and perfect performances from start to finish. I’ll always cherish seeing TLJ on opening night and crying as I watched my childhood icon be the hero one more time and become one with The Force

  5. Mark seemed to play things smart. Got to play one of the most iconic characters in film history, and then seemed to live a relatively happy and quiet life with his family outside work. He seems content.

  6. Couldn’t have had a better send off. TLJ Luke ALL THE WAY!

  7. They ruined his return and killed off his character, I’m sure that soured some things as well

  8. No. I already wrote the next Star Wars script – They need to RETCON the sequels, start over with Luke and a proper Jedi Academy. He takes on the role of a headmaster of sorts for the Jedi Academy, inspired by Harry Potter. He can then train ALL THE NEW JEDI, there will be Good ones, and ones that dabble with the dark secrets of the force, maybe even have their own journeys. yes Disney I will sign with you and fix this mess you created.

  9. With how the sequels happened I wouldn’t want to come back either

  10. The idiots had him go out with a wimper. WORST USE OF AN EPIC CHARACTER EVER IN THE LAST 3 MOVIES.

  11. If only we could have gotten adaptations of the Expanded Universe. Or would have been great to see. Luke appeared during the Legacy Era as a Force Ghost so that could have been something Mark could have done.

  12. > They should focus on the future and all the new characters.

    Luke be a Jedi tonight

    Just be a Jedi tonight

Do it for Yoda while we serve our guests a soda

And do it for Chewy and the Ewoks

    And all the other muppets…

  13. Recast new actors to play young Luke, Han, and Leia so we can get some more stories with these characters.

And no more of those creepy cgi deep-fakes.

  14. He should stay away. The series is a complete train wreck after the first 3. Rogue one is good though.

  15. “I know there is good in you. The emperor hasn’t driven it from you fully.”

“One of my students is really struggling with his powers and is tempted by the dark side, time to pull the plug on this mofo.”

  16. For new characters add a minority and make them gay. South Park said this works.

  17. His character is unfortunately held now as a CGI asset. Luke showed up de-aged in the Mandalorian.

Since he isn’t complaining assume Disney compensates him greatly for that privilege.

  18. yeah after he shit on the TLJ publicly in like every press interview he did, i dont think disney has plans to make him return either.

  19. I can’t fathom the logic they came to with the choices they made with Luke.

  20. We were cheated of a series of sequels featuring Luke’s growth & adulthood in the force as the most powerful Jedi. It’s what we expected after Return. What an amazing movie. We thought the next ones would be just as amazing. Sorry Mark.

  21. AKA: I don’t want to be involved with the current mess and want to stay associated with the older movies.

  22. The character is great. And has more story to be told. Just recast the character. It is normal to recast a character. Just recast.

  23. So many Sequel Trilogy glazers in this thread. Well, I genuinely believe that people that like these movies are braindead.
