Could they spend that making energy cheaper instead?
Just what purpose is served by this? It’s not the answer on growth, the size of the investment is piddling. And the weapons are for a war that we can’t, mustn’t fight – but which the existence of the weapons might draw us into fighting.
It’s not 1939 any more, the circumstances are entirely different. This govt is, as usual, making stuff up on the hoof and getting it entirely wrong.
That’s some good news, one of the major lessons from the Russian-Ukrainian war is the need for industrial capacity to manufacture munitions
This is good government should also focus on securing energy supplies and making it.affordable.
Always money for war never money for the poor. Same old story
Should have been done many years ago.. and failing that should have been sorted in Spring 2022. Better late than never I suppose.
But why wasn’t the his done 3 years ago? Why wasn’t this the first thing Starmer signed off on?
Other than Russian bots, has anyone been arguing for anything else? What’s the delay?
Nice to know we’re prioritising weapons manufacturing whilst food banks are still a thing.
Who gave them permission to that with our money then?
So we pay to build the factories, which will then be given to private owners, who we will then buy the weapons from?

Judging by some of the comments on here you’d think we never spent money on anything other than war. It’s a necessity, people need to get a grip.
A sad necessity. Something Europe should have been doing in 2022. Better late than never though.
