After a day of high temperatures, the weather is expected to deteriorate significantly during Saturday evening. According to the latest warnings, several storm cells are expected to reach Switzerland from the southwest, bringing heavy rainfall and the possibility of hail in various regions of the country, writes 20minuten.

The storms will initially affect the Geneva, Biel and Neuchâtel areas, as well as parts of central Switzerland, including the region around Lucerne. The bad weather is then expected to spread to Bern, Fribourg, Olten and northeastern Switzerland.

The federal government has issued warnings of “considerable risk” in several mountain and plain regions, including Vallée de Joux, Delémont-Bellelay, Gersau-Engelbergertal, Sarnen-Lungern and Luzern-Aplnacht. The expected storms could bring lightning, strong winds and hail, increasing the risk of material damage and risks to public safety, albinfo.ch reports.

Authorities advise residents in affected areas to avoid moving near bodies of water, open areas and places exposed to lightning, such as hills, trees and unprotected areas.

Meanwhile, the warning level has been raised to the second highest level for Val de Travers, where authorities have declared a “high risk” of storms until 21 p.m.

Relevant institutions are closely monitoring the situation and call on citizens to follow official instructions and stay informed about the latest weather developments, albinfo.ch reports.
