Marine Le Pen says she opposes sanctions on Russian gas

  1. *she said: “I do not want French people to suffer the consequences of sanctions” on oil and gas.*

This is literally what the Germans are saying as well. Why is it suddenly controversial when Marine says it?

  2. It is scary that this is most likely an appealing stance to her supporters. the second biggest faction in a leading western nation is a russian shill and that from the bottom up. Not a good look

  3. There is no alternative to russian gas in the short term. Can’t really blame her for stating the obvious.

The countries that support sanctions on russian gas don’t really need the gas, and as such it’s easy to support sanctions on it.

  4. she opposes all sanctions on russia, she said it at the start of the war, really every sanctions

and anyway she already said it at the last election so it’s a known fact in France

  5. Can someone give me a real argument on why French (and other country’s) people should suffer with a cost of living crisis because of oil and gas prises?

I understand the horrors that Russia is doing in the war in Ukraine, but I don’t think making people outside of that war suffer is the right answer. Obviously not buying Russian gas is hurting Russia’s economy, but it’s hurting ours as well. If we need to reduce our reliance on Russian gas, that should be done gradually and not just when we’re getting out of the Covid pandemic.

  6. It’s refreshing to hear a potential head of state put the financial well being of her people first, as opposed to bullshit sanctions.

For those who aren’t in the know, sanctions have never achieved anything other than causing suffering for the common people. The ruling elites are always untouched (see Cuba and now Russia)

  7. Reddit on suicide watch. A Nationalist favor the purchasing power of it’s citizen over the citizen of another country. Shocking.

i’m going to love all the conspiracy theories to try to make it about foreign politic when it’s just about national purchasing power.

  8. If someone in Italy or Germany said something like this, it would make *some* sense as it’s difficult to find alternative suppliers.

But France? Where 80% of electricity is nuclear? Where lots of homes are electric-only because who needs gas when you have nuke?

This is definitely a way of saying “Please Vlad, gib money for campaign”

  9. oh merde i’m winning… RUSSIANS BON! THEIR GAS IS OUI OUI! _parfait! now le people will never vote pour moi!_
