DUBLIN and Armagh face each other at Croke Park to see who takes advantage point going into the last round of games in the All-Ireland Football Championship group phase.
The Dubs got their push for an All-Ireland title off to a great start with a late win over Sam Maguire front-runners Galway in Salthill, thanks to substitute Tom Lahiff’s score after the hooter sounded.
However, the Boys in Blue have shown chinks in their armour this season, with their first loss in a Leinster Championship game in 15 years to Meath sending shockwaves through the footballing world.
They come up against Armagh, the reigning All-Ireland football champions, who are well in with a shout to reclaim their title with virtually the same squad that lifted the trophy last summer.
Kieran McGeeney’s men lost the Ulster final to Donegal by a single point after extra-time and, as a consequence, they ended up in ‘the group of death’, along with Galway, Dublin and Derry.
They started their campaign against the Oak Leafers last weekend in Armagh, with the added firepower of Rian O’Neill after the Crossmaglen Rangers clubman rejoined the Armagh set-up after a spell on the sidelines for personal reasons.
Despite a late push by Derry for a comeback, the Orchardmen managed to hold on and come out with the win at home to give themselves the best chance to progress straight to the quarter-final stage.
The last time these two sides played each other, Armagh came out on top in the National League at the Athletic Grounds, with the two sides still getting to grips with the new rules that had been introduced only a week before.
