Croatia Airlines welcomes its first Airbus A220-100 this October, boosting fleet modernization, expanding European routes, and enhancing passenger comfort and efficiency.
Croatia Airlines is set to mark a major milestone in its fleet renewal program with the scheduled arrival of its inaugural Airbus A220-100 aircraft this October 2025. This delivery underscores the airline’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and optimizing service across key routes by embracing the advanced technology and operational benefits offered by the A220 family.
Introducing the Compact and Efficient Airbus A220-100
Currently, the airline predominantly operates the larger A220-300 variant, recognized for its fuel-saving capabilities and passenger comfort. By adding the smaller A220-100, the carrier gains a versatile aircraft well-suited for routes with moderate demand, allowing it to more precisely align capacity with market needs.
Initial Operations Focused on Zagreb–Brussels Route
This route has historically been served by the 76-seat Dash 8 turboprop, but the introduction of the modern A220 jet will increase seating availability and enhance the overall travel experience. Passengers can expect quieter cabins, greater comfort, and improved reliability on this important European connection.
During the first winter period — lasting until late March 2026 — the airline plans to keep the A220-100 dedicated to this service, though future adjustments may see its role broadened as operational needs evolve.
Summer 2026 Expansion Across Multiple Destinations
With the onset of the 2026 summer schedule, Croatia Airlines intends to gradually expand the use of the A220-100 across a variety of routes. The aircraft will play a major role on the Zagreb – Split – Rome route, which is among the carrier’s busiest and most strategic, serving a blend of business and leisure travelers.
Additionally, in April 2026, the aircraft will operate on flights linking Zagreb with Dubrovnik, Skopje, Munich, and Frankfurt, reflecting the airline’s aim to modernize fleet operations on both short and medium-haul routes. The A220-100 will also feature on the Dubrovnik to Athens route, enhancing regional connectivity.
