I’ve been felling a bit ill, but not bed-bound ill (although last couple of days I’ve sat in the house, missing out on the sunshine) -just some sore throat, feeling tired, coughing a bit and runny nose entered the chat yesterday. Nothing dramatic, no fever. Today I thought this has been a weird cold, since it’s been dragging for quite few days and it’s slow to improve. Took the Covid test for giggles. The C line popped up pretty keenly on the test. While some people live in 2025, I’m still surfing 2020, apparently.

  1. Sorry you’ve got to deal with this! Covid was one of the most exhausting things for myself a few years back, sometimes I fear getting it again.

Hopefully you recover nice and quick! Get lots of rest and fluids.

  2. And now you’ve spread your covid to all of us. 😳

  3. Is that test strip in date? Old ones can give false positives IIRC.

  4. There’s a new strain doing the rounds, apparently.
    Hope you get well soon!

  5. At least you’re no longer stuck in the house with it, but I was absolutely *demolished* last time I caught it a few years ago. That was also the year I never got around to getting flu jabbed and caught the flu. That was a shit winter.

  6. Thank you for testing, i work in a care home and even some of my colleagues are “it’s just like a cold now” 🤷🏼‍♂️ and don’t think about the severe cases or longterm impact – one told me that she thinks wearing a mask doesn’t do anything.

  7. I’m the same. I’ve had what feels like a cold, but slightly worse, for the past few days. The only difference has been how I’ve felt a bit hot and sweaty and had a bad back, so this is exactly how I was with COVID back in 2021. I’m absolutely convinced it’s COVID this time because even though I’m pretty much back to normal, my smell and taste have gone walkies and are yet to return

  8. Stupid Covid. Knocked me out so many times, I lost count. And I was one of the people super cautious and taking precautions which amounted to sweet f* all because I still caught every strain going.

I had it last month and, based on my experience, this strain isn’t as bad as previous ones. You should be feeling yourself by the end of the first week, hopefully.

Take this as a cue to indulge in some rest and yummy snacks!

  9. I’m afraid the tests won’t work if taken casually. You’ll need to spruce up, have a shave, and put on formal attire for the readings to be legit

  10. I know we just treat Covid like a cold or the flu now but imagine if we all took steps to avoid spreading all of them. Wear a mask if you are ill, wash your hands, avoid being too close to people etc. We could massively reduce the number of people who are ill.

  11. There’s a pretty brutal wave starting up in the UK – it never went away.

Ps thanks for testing. From someone bedridden with severe long covid.

  12. The C line is the control line isn’t it? That should always be very clear. You have a strong test (T) line too though.

  13. Me and my dad both got it a week ago. I could tell what it was because I couldn’t smell or taste.

  14. Had it once in 2025 already, and 2 times in 2024. 7 (maybe 8, I lost count) positive tests in total. And I often get knock on effects. I fucking hate the sight of that extra red line.

  15. Oh Christ, today I woke up feeling really rough. Please let this not happen again!

  16. When I was working in a pub last year, I got ill, so I took a covid test and it was positive. I sent a picture of it to the landlord and said, “I’m sorry mate I’m not well, and I’ve tested positive for covid so I won’t be able to work my shift tomorrow and won’t take any more until I’m feeling better”.

He informed me that actually, that’s bollocks, there’s no such thing as covid and if I don’t want to work my shifts I can fuck off.

I’d been an excellent worker and saved him a lot of trouble in his role, so I did in fact fuck off and now he has to actually be in his pub and look after it lol.

  17. Turns out your ‘casual’ Sunday is more positive than my overly enthusiastic Friday night.

  18. Please take Covid seriously and take precautions not to spread it! I was quadruple vaccinated when I got it and am going into my third year of long COVID.

  19. Rest up and take things easy. I was wiped out for a couple of weeks, recovered then BAM had another cold.

  20. Thanks for testing. I caught COVID last year and because I’m asthmatic it gave me pneumonia, I started off thinking I was going to die and moved on to wanting to die it was that painful! People saying it’s just a cold aren’t thinking about people with existing complications!

  21. Just got over COVID myself, rough few days with a high temperature but thankfully didn’t last long!

  22. It’s rife again where I am we’ve all just had it again

  23. We’ve had it again recently, I got vertigo for the first time ever off the back of it, wouldn’t wish that on anyone, still suffering from that 7 week later. Weird itchy gums was a symptom which prompted us to test 🤷‍♀️
    Feel better soon!

  24. Exact same situation I am in now. Also saw someone else testing positive recently so thought I’d use one of the tests in my cupboard – immediately positive. I just had a severe fever for a day and a bit of a cough. Still isolating though 😷

  25. Just started back on some medication, went out for a short time to buy something, got a really bad stomache ache while I was out. Felt like I was going to shit myself.

Only just managed to get back home. Terrible diarrhoea. And I’m no stranger to the toilet bowl, no sir-e. With IBS and a really cheeky stomache I’m already well acquainted with the Slops.

Hopefully it will get better after a short lie down. And I hope you get well soon.

  26. I’m in bed recovering from a high fever – apparently there is a new strain of COVID abroad.

  27. This happened to me last October. Felt weirdly ill for a few days and did a test ….bang positive ..had just spent the weekend celebrating my mum’s 80th (luckily all the oldies were ok!!)

  28. I think I’m the same, suddenly had a cold at the start of the week and by Saturday was feeling better but noticed I had no sense of smell. Decided to take a test this morning and got a faint positive. Aside from the lack of smell I’m back to normal.
Never got it in 2020-1 and had at least three shots during that time, so this was probably my first time.

  29. Since Thursday morning I had severe chills, body aches, head ache etc. you name it like a horrible flu. BUT no congestion, mental clarity was fine, appetite was ok. Very odd. Tested negative for Covid or the flu. So I have no idea..

  30. I cycled at 19.3mph over 56 miles, so I’m pretty happy with that. Bodes well for my three week trip in Ireland in 3 weeks. Sorry your day’s not going so well!

  31. This shit took me out of commission 3 weeks ago. Hope you don’t have bad symptoms.

  32. I used to manage a “children’s enrichment centre” aka kids club. I remember getting covid post lockdown and my superior practically begged/accused me of not being a team player and suggested that I come in anyway and just rest when I felt rough – It’s was a hands on, close contact role working with 3-10yr olds which included prepping and cooking meals.. I noped out of that one and handed in my notice shortly after

  33. This was me the other week. Felt fine for the first few days, most of the symptoms passed and then I was bed/sofa ridden with brain fog for another 4 days. Couldn’t even manage a full shop at Tesco. Couldn’t read my book. Weird. I’m 45 and in pretty good physical shape (or so I thought…)

  34. I’ve also had a strange cold this weekend and I saw your post and I thought ooo that’s a good idea, I to shall do a test.
Damn it, I now have the plague again 😭🤬🤧 I think that’s the 5th time I’ve caught it now 😱

  35. I live in the south west of Oxfordshire, in March at my work almost everyone had flu symptoms and some were visibly exhausted but were working, a week later I felt unwell and took the COVID test, and it was positive… I think everyone at my work had COVID too but they didn’t stay at home.

  36. Recently had Covid too, from Friday last week. Only recently started feeling better (everyone in my house had it too)

So we can live in 2020 together
