  1. But also is like 8th in popularity with rest of the Dems pool. What’s the point ?

She will still never win a statewide election let alone a nomination

  2. This might just be me, but I view AOC more positively than most Americans.

    What are we doing y’all?

  3. We should be “tirelessly” working to get her elected.

  4. Why wouldn’t they? She’s the only one who seems to identify with and care about working class people.

  5. The 2024 election has shown us that the American people are pretty much just tired of politicians who talk like politicians. Biden beat Trump in part because Biden doesn’t speak like a politician but like your bumbling grandfather. It’s why Bernie, AOC, and even Trump find overlapping appeal across political spectrum. They don’t speak like politicians even if they are. And in Trump’s case, he doesn’t even sound like a coherent human being. But voters would take that over more corpo-political speeches.

Low information voters can’t tell the difference between a Harris, a Graham, a Rubio, or a Warren because they all speak with the same cadence and tenor. They zone out when they hear career politicians speak. Their attention is only grabbed (but they don’t pay attention) when someone starts talking like someone they might know in real life.

  6. UK here. If you guys don’t want her as leader she can come and have a go over here.

  7. OK now do a poll in swing states only. Thats the only thing that matters.

  8. Would have to hear more about what she believes in, but she certainly scored points with me questioning the ethics of senators investing in stocks. If all people working in the financial industry are banned from stock dealing because of insider trading risks, how can the policy makers be allowed to?

  9. I never understood what was wrong with Harris. If it was mostly due to her race or sex, how will Cortez overcome the same thing?

  10. The person who talks about the things we are all concerned about is more popular than the President that constantly tries to blame immigrants for your problems and offers no solutions other than to get rid of them and cut taxes for the wealthy: news at 11

  11. These polls don’t mean shit lol. Yeah maybe a whole bunch of New Yorkers and Californians view her positively, but they don’t decide the election. It’s people in the swing states, many of whom will not entertain a female candidate for president. We will have President Vance or President Trump Jr. if AOC is the nominee.

  12. She will lose. You need to run a southern dem. I’d vote for her, but middle America isn’t voting for anyone from the northeast named Ocasio-Cortez. Sorry. I wish they would. But they won’t.

  13. Polls lie! Remember the polls from the last election?

  14. We’ve run two women in 2016 and 2024. This is a sexist, misogynistic, racist, homophobic country in aggregate. Neither AOC nor Buttigieg will get the job done and secure the electoral college in the Midwest.

We need Andy Beshear and Gretchen Whitmer to get those electoral college votes that were supposed to be Clinton’s “Fire Wall.”

  15. I think her best bet in the near future is to challenge Schumer’s Senate seat if she’s determined to climb the ladder. And whether you like the message or not, it will still help Democrats send one that conveys how it’s time for a changing of the guard.

Report after report, poll after poll tells us that left leaning voters are upset with Democrats over a lack of a clear message and a spirited plan of action.

Passing the torch to young and energetic representatives like AOC who are involved in organizing and canvassing; who are mobilizing voters and engaging in community building, and who are informing the public while extolling a clear, passionate message to voters, could help resuscitate the party and pave the way for a trailblazing democratic movement. Perhaps it may even usher in a new generation of leadership.

Whether or not AOC and her brand of progressivism is your preference, these are still things that the Democratic party desperately needs in order to effectively push back against the current wave of authoritarianism that is washing over this country.

  16. Are polls something that we are guided by these days? Seriously, not sarcastically. Seems like every single day leading up to the last disaster of an election there were polls saying just anything, all over the place. What is the point of engaging with this information?

  17. 46 positive 44 negative 10 unsure. I don’t think those are great numbers but no one has great numbers 🤷🏻

  18. The biggest commonality between the success of Trump and Obama at getting elected was that their campaigns emphasized that their voters were part of a “movement” that would change American politics. Being a part of a movement resonates with everyday people. When all someone doing is working some job, trying to live, and living for the weekends, being a part of something bigger than oneself matters a lot to that person. That’s why Trump and Obama were successful. Their supporters believe they were a part of something bigger than themselves.

I believe AOC has the opportunity to start something similar. She is an “outsider” enough from the Democratic Party’s narrative to make people feel like she can bring meaningful change to America. She’s a populist and populism is hot right now.

There’s a reason the Republican Party’s media machine is so hellbent on slandering her. They’re afraid of her potential. They’re afraid that when the working class continues to struggle after being promised so much, she will be there to get those Obama to Trump voters that swayed the 2016 and 2024 elections. They’re afraid that her message is strong enough to resonate with people and become a movement. They’re afraid that she can win.

I have very little confidence in the DNC leadership to make any effort to lift her to the spotlight. They want Newsome, Whitmer, or Buttigieg to be the one to carry the flag. They want the “safe pick” to avoid ruffling the feathers of their donors.

Assuming this primary in 2028 will be free of fuckery (which is a big ask given the DNC’s track record of primary fuckery), It is up to you to make sure she gets the chance to be president. Please vote in the primaries.

  19. America is not going to vote for a woman president. The last two contenders got beaten by Donald f*cking Trump.

  20. I like AOC a lot but this is not the win we think it is. Hilary Clinton also polled really well and had a high approval rating when she *wasn’t* running for president and it tanked when she was. People are more willing to see a politician favorably when they aren’t running for president, especially for women where the audacity to want to be president is seen as a negative.

I’d love to be wrong, but once the right wing disinformation system starts laser focusing on her I imagine those polls will look a lot different.

  21. She’s got great talking points, realistic views of how government should work for the people and doesn’t seem to give shit about the traditional, archaic way that Washington is run. America ain’t ready for her and if they decide to run her, it’ll be Clinton/Harris all over again.

America don’t run on Dunkin. It runs on the White Male Gaze and the idea that only a White guy with a head full of hair, Chiclets for teeth, and a raging case of Peyronie’s disease can run the country. When American disabuses itself of that notion, we’ll all be free.

  22. The reason AOC has a real shot if she runs is that the best communicator usually wins. People respond to what they see and hear a lot more than the ideology or identity of a candidate.

Reagan, Clinton, GWB, Obama, Trump are all amazing communicators despite very different ideologies.

AOC and Buttigeig are probably the best two communicators in the party so not surprised they’re leading early polls.

  23. They said the same thing about Kamala. They said the same thing about Hillary. Both lost to an orange dumbass with a surrounding party hell bent on fascism.

Sorry, but the time for a female candidate isn’t now.

  24. And yet she’d still probably lose a presidential election because she’s been vilified by the far-right media machine since day 1 of her entering Congress.

    God I hate this.
