The son of late conservationist Steve Irwin is the Global Ambassador for William’s Earthshot Prize
Robert Irwin has nothing but praise for his conservationist collaborator Prince William.
Speaking to Us Weekly ahead of the Steve Irwin Gala in May, the 21-year-old wildlife warrior opened up about teaming up with the Prince of Wales on environmental efforts, calling it “an incredible synergy.”
“I think Prince William has been such an amazing person to work with,” Irwin, 21, said in the interview published Sunday, June 1.
“I think it’s wonderful that someone so influential… is using that to really better our environment,” he added, calling William “a true environmental hero.”
In 2024, Irwin, the son of late Australian conservationist Steve Irwin, was named a Global Ambassador for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize. The initiative supports groundbreaking environmental solutions across five key categories, including climate repair and nature preservation.
Irwin has not only championed the project publicly but also attended its Singapore ceremony and continues to push its mission worldwide.
Irwin added that he and the future king have become close allies in the cause.
“We’ve definitely compared a lot of notes in the conservation space,” he shared. “And plus, he’s just a great guy. When you have a conversation with him, he’s the most lovely, intelligent person to talk to and is just so easygoing, so much fun.”
“He’s a really, really, really good guy,” he reiterated.
