I keep seeing these around and wondered what they are? (In Vaud, Suisse) Any ideas? Thought they might be land boundary markers… or pilgrimage markers? They seem to be arbitrarily placed and seem to have no relationship to commune boundaries…

Official measurement points for geographical features.
Im not an expert nor from the industry, so please correct me if I’m wrong – but I’m pretty sure they are coordinate points, used for mapping/measuring specific topographical distances, hence why they don’t follow any communal boundaries, but instead seem arbitrary, as they are based on geographical measurements. 🙌
