This when it was basically an open secret that Savile was a pedophile. Theres no way Charles didn’t know about it.
Sought his advice for what? How to get away with sexually abusing children?
Presumably Charles needed some ideas as to what to get his brother for his birthday.
If the Guardian want to link the royal family to paedophilia surely there are more prince Andrew stones they can overturn.
Linking Prince Charles to Jimmy Savile in the 80s despite there being no suggestion of anything nefarious or Charles having any idea at all what Saville was up to just makes this all look like a wholly unsubstantial hit piece.
Prince Charles has been remarkably stupid, immature and out of touch for most of his life. It seems like he finally started to grow up when he hit his 70s
Seeing how many people knew or had heard about Savile even at the time surely it’s a huge lapse in intelligence types not keeping him away from big names like the royals and Thatcher? Makes me think they didn’t actually know and I am no fan of Thatcher of the royals
Netflix ‘British Horror Story’ released in US today reads directly from boxes and boxes of foreign and domestic policy questions from Prince Charles on behalf of the Queen in his own flourished handwriting begging Jimmy Savile to help him run the commonwealth on Head of State Letterhead as if he’s conjuring Rasputin. Savile replies beg him to ask anyone else but him like the Crowns vetted experts, then proceeds to provide Her Majesty several Binders to run the ‘Queens philanthropy business’ who along with Margaret Thatcher have him knighted to ‘put nasty rumors to bed’…
While feigning shock about Ukraine, Prince Andrew and Ghislain Maxwell and Charles obsession with Sir Savile while destroying Princess Diana’s humanitarian efforts, maybe the scariest thing about this documentary is it’s impeccable and ruthless timing. Forget about democracy, however will the realm survive Putin the Great *and* Succession with so many pesky paper trails?
Not sure why I get myself into these arguments, but here we go.
Prince Charles, like 99% of the country who loved him, likely had no idea about the things Savile was doing.
It’s also entirely reasonable to seek PR advice from someone who seemed to figure it all out. Savile was a beloved national icon – to say he had his finger on the pulse of the national would be an understatement. His entire thing was PR and connecting with people. He was so good at it; he got away with sexually abusing thousands of people. He was the perfect person to approach for advice about being more relatable.
Even more so, Charles showing the humility to even attempt to connect more with the public is reasonably admirable. This is in the era when there was no threat to the royal family. He could have held nothing but contempt for the public and nobody would have cared.
