Prince Harry received praise for his down-to-earth personality whereas his wife Meghan Markle called out for her non-approachable trait.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned from their senior royal roles in 2020. The couple now resides in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
As per Daily Mail, royal commentator Richard Mineards revealed a shocking story of an elderly historian’s encounter with the former Suits actress.
When the pair moved to California, an old local expressed a wish to deliver a copy of his documentary but he never got a chance to get in.
“The old man never got past the gate,” the expert claimed that the incident showcased Meghan is “distant” from the Montecito community.
According to the local resident, the mother-of-two showcased a “very controlled image.”
“She pays attention to every appearance, every word, every gesture. And here in Montecito, we appreciate simple people, even famous ones,” Richard shared.
The locals accused Meghan of “never” trying to “fit in” with the locals of Santa Barbara County town.
On the other hand, her husband, the Duke of Sussex made a special place in the hearts of locals.
Richard said, “He is always charming, approachable, with that very recognizable Windsor accent. He smiles, shakes hands, and willingly exchanges a few words.”
“We’ve seen him at the beach, in an organic coffee shop, or cycling in the hills,” the royal expert added.
“Harry has kept his good-natured side. We feel that he is more at ease here, even with his personal struggles.” Richard continued, “Meghan, on the other hand, is practically invisible. She’s there, of course, but she shows herself very little. Her relationship with Montecito is… distant, shall we say.”
However, no official comments have been made by the spokesperson of Sussexes.
