This came from and unnamed “friend” of Harry’s so please read the automod comment before responding.

Prince Harry sought advice from Princess Diana's brother about changing his family name to Spencer, The Mail on Sunday has learned.

Sources said the Duke of Sussex actively explored ways to assume his mother's surname – a move that would have involved ditching Mountbatten-Windsor, used by his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

It is understood he discussed the issue with Earl Spencer – whose family seat is Althorp in Northamptonshire – during a rare visit to Britain, but was told that the legal hurdles were insurmountable.

'They had a very amicable conversation and Spencer advised him against taking such a step,' said a friend of Harry.

  1. I know, I know, lots of salt and everything, but it feels like Harry will do everything but get therapy.

  2. The Earl advised against it? I’d have thought it was his idea 🙄
    (If it happened at all)

  3. I actually think this is a great idea

I hope he is doing ok

  4. Guessing that would’ve been a dealbreaker for Meghan.

  5. Weren’t we were told by Meghan that their last name is Sussex?

  6. Ah yes, the *Daily Mail* . The pinnacle of journalistic integrity. I’m absolutely convinced.

  7. I thought they changed their name to Sussex and that everybody should know that and call them that 🤭

  8. Leaving aside the dubious reporting, has there been a royal who took a different family name?  Other than adopting Mountbatten-Windsor to avoid sounding germanic

  9. That’s an excellent idea. And then he could divorce his father while he’s at it as well. They are trying their best to humiliate him and put him in his place, so it’s time to reciprocate. Imagining legal hurdles is for inheritance purposes, as Harry is heir to the King along with William. However a name change doesn’t affect that . The intent of his father does though. It is quite legitimate to change ones surname to that of their mother instead of their father. After all Mountbatten Windsor is a made up phoney name to start with, and they were never Mountbattens in the first place, nor were they ever Windsors either.

Spencer is a much more legitimate surname for Harry and his family. They will lose the HRH titles and probably Sussex as well once William is on the throne, and that might not be very far off in the future in any case.

Better to get in while the iron is hot. If Harry resigns his position in the order of precedence to the throne, as well as for his children, then if anything ever happens to William and his family, then Prince Andrew will become King. Surely King Charles and the nation will just LOVE that scenario

Spite and revenge has consequences; far reaching consequences, and it’s about time that Charles started acting like a proper father instead of some show pony of puffed up self importance directed by minions in positions of power within Buckingham Palace.

  10. Daily Mail lol obsessed with Harry and their sources without names

  11. This is really strange. It almost feels like Harry is having a years (decades) long tantrum and looking to his father to respond to at least one of his threats or activities. If this name change is true, this feels like another attempt to get the RF to react.

  12. Why whould he want to do that? I mean, it’s not common, even for everyday people. Even so, for a blood born Prince. What would his gain be, from that?
