I’m spending some time in Germany after never leaving the USA in my life. I’ve noticed that almost all of the bottles here have these strange rings of what seems to be some sort of residue around the top and bottom of the bottle. I’ve never seen this before, we certainly have nothing like it in the USA. Is this some artifact from the reuse of the bottles, or just how bottles are constructed? Nobody I’ve asked here has any idea.
