considering all the money in the wealth fund is invested in stock markets that are going down because of war and huge shift and insecurities in trade, we might not end up with a profit because of the war. it for sure isnt as simple as looking at oil and gas prices going up. Invest it in offshore wind farms, green hydrogen, and nuclear plants, whether in Norway or in other countries. Having a massive sovereign wealth fund won’t do anything if the planet is a total mess from climate change.

I dunno, it’s a bit hypocricial that this crisis suddenly makes us think about our oil profits. Like how cobalt for EVs is so bad when we have had child labour for 400 years in the clothing industry.
Sure, I’m for a fund for rebuilding ukraine and creating a new massive defense there against Putler, but it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth that we now are forgetting the “typical” crises in the world and the “regular refugees” are now even 2nd tier refugees as various help is apparently now earmarked Ukrainian refugees.
What profits? Norway has lost billions on the stock market because of Russia’s invasion. Much more than the high oil prices

Nothing. Norway is selling off most to foreign countries that the norwegian citizien have to buy back at a higher cost. We don’t get to enjoy much from our wealth anymore.

Are we selling it at normal prices tho? I would assume we sell cheap to the eu and therefore not really gaining anything major for it anyway.
