  1. Ooopsie. Looks like the “alarmists” were the realists after all. The IPCC owes Hansen a BIG apology.

  2. Aren’t this calculation and the IPCC just working with different scales and reference points? The IPCC says that we need to keep warming below 1.5° C **measured by their global mean surface temperature calculations at the time of publishing**. All their warnings are based on what is predicted to happen at 1.5 C, 2.0C, 4.0C of warming according to their temperature scale. 

    This headline feels like saying that things are bad b/c if I converted temperatures to Fahrenheit, and said we are actually close to 3.0 degrees of warming! (1.5C = ~ 3.0F)

    (Assuming that IPCC predictions and tipping points are valid and not too optimistic. I just don’t feel **more** worried after this study. )
