No conservative American has any idea that they should hold the R party to ANY standard in any way because this or that urban legend about Democrats they heard on Fox.

    It works. I just had a multiple degree woman try to argue to me that tax cuts always pay for themselves with growth that outweighs the deficit. That deficit?! The one over there with fangs eating your children’s souls that you were just bitching about being too high? Naw girl, probably half the entire deficit is irresponsible mainly Republican tax cuts and tax cut extensions done when totally inappropriate directing free money towards the exact people who are the only people even allowed to talk to a congressman since even before Citizens United. They believe they can have their cake and eat it too.

    Like … which is it, guys? Is it temporary, and therefore can be passed with reconciliation, or is it permanent, and therefore needs to beat a filibuster?

    And they’ve of course wedded the huge tax savings to the rich to a +$1,000 child tax credit, so they can claim if democrats block the bill that they’re raising taxes on working families. But $80 a month isn’t a lot of money when they’re also taking away medicaid

  19. the Republican budget wasn’t going to pass this time without Medicaid cuts and a work requirement is the politically safest option. Even “moderate” Republicans want a work requirement. And it appeals to voters who have a very superficial understanding and who believe conservative bullshit about there being a bunch of able bodied recipients who don’t want to work.

    Unfortunately it might require wide scale disaster and many losing coverage for Medicaid work requirements to fall out of favor so that they are later overturned. A federal judge blocked them previously, but I’m not sure if a federal requirement that was made into law can be blocked.

    He basically just lied. No cuts to medicaid, his twist on trickle-down economics and rebuffed any questions with that smug southern preachers grin.

    He’s a machine. He will push those tax cuts through and when it’s all blowing up he’ll just walk and collect his reward of placement up the org chart in private industry.

    You can hate them but you have to admire their mettle. No shame, tireless and a steely determination.

    Too bad there’s nothing at all like that on our side.

If Republicans were honest their entire platform would just be “fuck brown people, fuck poor people, fuck women, fuck trans and gay people, fuck the working class and fuck you too”. I’m convinced they even hate their fellow conservatives but they need them to win elections so they have to lie to appeal to them. I’ve lived in red states and it’s pretty clear they do nothing to really take care of their constituents which is why their states are full of poverty.
