In Paris, activists from Greenpeace carried out an unusual action by stealing the wax figure of French President Emmanuel Macron from the Grévin Museum. They placed this figure in front of the Russian embassy, making a symbolic protest against France’s economic ties with the Russian Federation amid the war in Ukraine.
According to information provided by the police, three activists – two women and one man – entered the museum posing as tourists. Disguised in work clothes, they managed to carry out the statue, valued at 40,000 euros, wrapped it in a blanket, and exited through a service door.
Afterwards, the wax figure was left in front of the Russian embassy building in Paris’s 16th arrondissement.
“For us, France is playing a double game. Emmanuel Macron embodies this duplicity: he supports Ukraine, but at the same time encourages French companies to continue trading with Russia.”
– Jean-François Julliard, Executive Director of Greenpeace France
The activists emphasized that Macron bears a special responsibility in this situation and should become one of the leaders of European initiatives aimed at ending commercial ties with Russia.
“We are directly addressing Emmanuel Macron because he carries a special responsibility in this situation. He should be the first in European negotiations to end commercial contracts between Russia and European countries.”
