1. Am I reading that right? Boston U can attribute 300k deaths specifically to the cutting of USAID? That’s hard to believe, but the methodology on their website looks sound. They’re also claiming 28k American deaths, and one death every 3.3 minutes since PEPFAR was frozen. That’s fucking insane…

2. Anyone claiming the “modeling” can’t be correct is badfaith af, not to be given any more time.

   These are the most vulnerable people, as highlighted by the ones we know of that we know beyond any doubt died because of the aid cuts.

   None of these ghouls give a damn about facts, so don’t give them any time trying to humor their badfaith demands for facts while this meatballPOS claims “no deaths due to aid cuts”.

4. The argument is in bad faith. USAID was on the chopping block because too many projects stagnated

   The most obvious case study is Sudan, where USAID being cut literally caused and is causing people to starve, whereas they were getting food from USAID

   The USAID donated 22 million dollars worth of food aid to Sudan since 2006. That being said, the situation in Sudan has not improved, it has gotten worse during that period

   So there’s more to it than a flat statement that it caused deaths, because these deaths were happening already. In fact, throwing a bunch of money at the problem did not work, which was the verdict before these programs were cancelled

   It’s up to the able to administer aid in way that’s meaningful and there’s now more oversight over the processes that created USAID in the first place. It can and will be organized again, this time in way that produces better results that can’t be waved away so easily

   Everything is always transactional with these people. Its just another way to say, “Sure, we’ll help feed some starving people, but what are they gonna do for us?” Sometimes you can do the right thing because its the right thing to do.

7. The US went into these places, provided treatment options, in many cases essentially took the place of local clinics.

   Pulling away aid isn’t a matter of “well they just need to go somewhere else” – USAID was the only option.

   The Trump Regime did the equivalent of bulldozing the only hospital in these regions.

   That blood is on Trump’s hands and Rubio’s hands. Marco had better get used to it. By the time he leaves, he’ll be responsible for more deaths than most people can even imagine.
