The joint enterprise convictions tackle gang related crime. It’s no secret that young black men in London are the largest gang demographic. So the people convicted for gang related crime tend to be black, because they make up a larger portion of people who commit gang related crime.
So, either the scheme is “racist” as they claim and every demographic statistic on this is wrong… or the police are targeting people based on actual figures, as they should.
They have the numbers and case figures, and they are using them to do their job. Insurance adjusters do it too. Young men get charged more for car insurance, its not bigoted. It’s because on average they are a known risk, with tons of data to back it up.
Also, it’s a “charity of lawyers” who are attempting to sue the government. They are welcome to do so. I’m sure they’ll happily take donations too. Doesn’t mean they have a leg to stand on.
