Except for a strike, Scottish Water isn't going bust.

  1. I love our water too, but it’s mega concerning that we just don’t monitor the majority of our sewage outflows, even after the government told them to get it done…

I would not be surprised if our water is fucked too and Scottish water are only slightly better as down south was the canary.

I really wish we just invested shit loads into infrastructure and utility, nationally owned mind.

  2. Whilst not in the same level of financial crisis.

Scottish Water staff are currently on their 3rd strike in 3 months over pay.

  3. HUSH, their drought gets any worse the English wankers will start demanding ours. Shhhhh

  4. Yeah Scottish water isn’t *anywhere* as good as you think it is.

During one summer at Uni (1990s) so a while back…I as a young chemistry student was working as a lab rat for a pre-scottish water regional division – the river water I was sampling and analysing would have made the Seine look clean. I was advised *never* to not have waders and gloves on.

On that note a mate of mine ended up as a graduate civil engineer looking at Edinburgh water distribution – in the 00s. At the time Ed had provable massive infrastructure based water loss from source to tap – he said it’s over 95percent. I doubt it’s improved much.

Just so you realise the leakage there – if that was oil, gas or a chemical there would be a public scandal and proper jail time: only 5 litres out of 100 at the reservoir ever reached the customer after being filtered, cleaned, chemical treated and piped away.

  5. ScottishWater isn’t going bust, but it is going dry. We need more reservoirs, and less waste (leaks and people).

[Scots use ~40% more water than someone in Yorkshire](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9q0j07l9dxo), it’s mental how much we waste.

And we haven’t even begun to discuss sewage outflows or the pollution caused by fish farms.
